CSI Discussion - Episode 8.17 For Gedda
May 16, 2008 by Jonathan

This was a very intense episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Warrick. Grissom. McKeen. Hodges. Organized Crime. CSIs arrested.
- Why didn’t Warrick suspect something bad, when Gedda called him?
- Did McKeen seem a bit twitchy, early in the episode?
- Was assigning the investigation to the day shift necessary protocol?
- After Grissom’s splatter pattern discovery, and the cuffs, did it seem like the DA changed his mind to drop the charges a little too quickly, given his misgivings just a couple scenes earlier?
- What else is McKeen up to, that he needed to get Warrick out of the way?
- In the second to last scene, did it seem like the waitress gave Warrick a funny look as she disappeared into the back?
- Is it possible that the waitress took out some trash, and may have witnessed McKeen at Warrick’s car?

8.17 For Gedda
Air Date: May 15, 2008.
At a funeral, the pall bearers seem to be faltering under the weight of the casket. The bottom gives out, and two bodies fall to the ground. The team arrives. The second, “surprise” body hasn’t been dead long –24 hours.
Brass talks to the mortician, who won’t say anything. He grabs a pad, and writes “lawyer”. Brass returns –on the pad- “you’re under arrest”.
In the morgue, Warrick recognizes the mystery body. He looks a bit freaked out, as well. The body is that of Lenny Harper. He was a cop, who “retired” at age 33, sporting a long list of complaints from his department tenure. He was most recently working as a private investigator.
The team goes to Harper’s office. It’s a bit too clean. Keys in a drawer lead Nick and Grissom to a car that has, likewise, been meticulously cleaned.
As Warrick is thinking about recent run-ins with bookies, he receives a phone call that aggravates him. He says he’ll “be there”.
On Harper’s computer, they find audio recordings of interviews and calls with clients. They listen to one that sounds like Gedda saying that he was going to “bury that guy Lenny”. Nick tells Grissom that Warrick hired Lenny to investigate Gedda, since he couldn’t do it himself.
Warrick calls Grissom from the Galley. He says he doesn’t know how he got there, that he just woke up there. He has a handgun in his free hand. Police storm in and arrest Warrick. Grissom shows up on the scene. Warrick is in cuffs, and Gedda is a bloody mess, slumped over dead in his chair, with Warrick’s cuffs on his wrists. Warrick says he doesn’t remember anything. The officer in the room tells Grissom that a nearby merchant heard shots. The officer answered the call, and found no one else in the building. Brass tells Warrick not to say a word, until he gets to the station.
