CSI: Vegas - Get Ready for Season 9!
September 14, 2008 by Lynn
To round out the review sessions, here’s how the eighth season of CSI: Vegas ended. It was tough to watch Warrick get shot in the final scenes, and I’m sure we have more tough scenes to watch in the season 9 premiere.
This is going to be an emotional premiere episode!

Here’s a candid photo taken of Laurence Fishburne and his daughter when they were out shopping together recently. He’s the newest member of the CSI: Vegas cast and I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to seeing what his character is like.
Gary Dourdan: Gossip Time!
September 13, 2008 by Lynn
While grabbing the photos of Gary Dourdan on the set of his new movie Fire, I found this one of what is labeled to be “his girlfriend.” There’s no mention of her name, but she’s pretty. The other actor in the photo is German actor Ken Duken. It seems that Gary’s life is going pretty well these days!
Gary Dourdan is Working on a New Movie
I found some photos of Gary Dourdan taken on the set of his new movie, Fire. The movie is being shot in Berlin, Germany and I’ll let you know more about it as details are released. The set of the movie was at the Fasanenstrases.
I’m glad he’s got other projects underway. For one thing, his career is doing well, and another is that we’ll get to see him in other things. It’s great news!

CSI Vegas Casting: NOT Being John Malkovich
As sad as I was to hear that William Petersen was moving on from his starring role on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, I’m sad to hear that it didn’t work out with one of his potential replacements, John Malkovich. Malkovich has proven his capacity for portraying brilliant, yet unstable, characters. It’s really very scary. According to Maureen Ryan of The Chicago Tribune, executive producer Naren Shankar couldn’t share details on other actors they are talking to.
Asked about similarities between the new character and Dexter, the lovable serial killer of serial killers, Shankar made it sound like the CSI character is more the converse of Dexter. Dexter is a serial killer trying to discover his own humanity. The academic joining CSI in episode 9 will be a man trying to understand if he could be a serial killer. Knowing that he has genetic characteristics known among killers, he feels he must explore the nature of real killers to understand himself.
Of course, the way things pan out for the character will depend a lot on who the actor will be. They still have a little time to cast him, since they won’t begin production on episode 5 and beyond, until mid-August. Next thing you know, though, we’ll be watching him.
Who would you like to see play the new character?

CSI: Nevada Rose - A CSI: Vegas Novel
July 27, 2008 by Jonathan
In this CSI novel, by Jerome Preisler, Grissom, Catherine, Warrick, and the rest of the team investigate two deaths. One is a John Doe, discovered on a world-class Vegas golf course, and the possible victim of a bad case of sibling rivalry. The other, “Nevada Rose” Demille, a beautiful sports groupie, and heavily sought-after barfly, well-known at the trendiest casinos and clubs. When her nude body is found, Willows and Warrick find a trail that seems to lead to “The Fireball”, a major leaque pither, who’s a future Hall of Famer, and a womanizer, who had a recent, very public affair with “Nevada Rose”.

Man’s Suicide CSI Copycat?
July 20, 2008 by Jonathan

Image details: Holidays & Occasions served by picapp.com
This March, a mysterious death in eastern New Mexico eventually led investigators to a 2003 episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Thomas Hickman, 55, a Red Lobster Regional Manager from Texas, was found dead southeast of Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Police originally believed the man, found with duct tape over his mouth, and shot in the back of the head, was the victim of homicide. Soon, though, balloons found in a cholla cactus, just 30 feet from the body, made investigators think otherwise. Tied to the balloons, they found a revolver missing its grip and trigger guard, presumably to lighten the load on the balloons.
Apparently, the man had plans similar to those of a “victim” in the CSI: Vegas episode Homebodies. Hickman seems to have tied the gun to balloons, shot himself in the back of the head, and thought that the weapon would escape the scene, making his death look like a homicide. The man had a life insurance policy that would have paid his wife $388,000. Of course, a verifiable suicide would kept the money out of his beneficiaries’ hands, so, he tried hide the evidence of suicide. Too bad for his survivors that his plan didn’t work.
When a New Mexico State Police detective heard about the CSI episode, he rented the DVD to watch. When investigators searched Hickman’s North Richland Hills, Texas home, they found metal shavings in his garage that matched the handgun. These clues fit with the fact that Hickman, 6 feet 6 inches tall and 260 pounds, was found with his mouth taped shut, but with no signs of a struggle, and he was not in any way bound. According to Lt. Rick Anglada, though, they found no evidence that the man had seen the Homebodies episode of CSI.
ABC News reported this on Thursday.
I guess, sometimes, truth is just as strange as fiction.
Do YOU doubt that the man saw Homebodies?
