Episode 6.07: Chain Reaction
Air Date: November 5, 2007
Spoiler #1: A model is electrocuted on a runway, and the case may involve Horatio’s son and a nemesis. Source: TV Guide
Spoiler #2: After model Alisha Reilly is fatally electrocuted while walking along a water-filled runway at a fashion show, Horatio learns that she was married to Joe LeBrock, the prisoner who recently threatened Horatio’s son, Kyle. The designer, Gavin Hauer, used platinum wire in all his designs, but the CSIs discover that the platinum was removed from one dress and used to rewire the lighting on a pole on the runway. Walking the wet runway, Alisha touched the pole and was electrocuted. Closer examination of the dresses reveals that their fabric also contains large amounts of heroin. Hauer has been using his fashion line as a way to traffic heroin.
When Horatio questions him, LeBrock doesn’t give up anything; instead, he assures Horatio that it’s just a matter of time before he gets Kyle. Things worsen when Oscar, the prisoner Horatio enlisted to watch over Kyle, is killed in a cell phone-detonated bomb while out on road duty. The phone is traced back to Kyle, who claims that Joe surreptitiously gave it to him so that he could track down his mother. Reilly’s killer turns out to be a fellow model who envied her marriage to Joe. With that murder solved, Horatio must still figure out a way to exonerate his son, who is implicated in Oscar’s murder. LeBrock denies ordering one of his men to place the deadly call from the phone that he so conveniently gave to Kyle. Horatio finally gets LeBrock to exonerate Kyle by threatening to make public some recently obtained surveillance footage of LeBrock’s son, Scott, soliciting sex from children. Source: CBS
Episode 6.08: Permanent Vacation
Air Date: November 12, 2007
Spoiler #1: A family vacation turns deadly when a couple’s son is murdered, and the parents take justice into their own hands. Roger: Dean Cain. Denise: Leslie Hope. Source: TV Guide
Spoiler #2: A Canadian family is visiting Miami. One of the sons accidentally becomes an enemy of a gangbanger by flirting with his girlfriend in an elevator and is shot and killed the day he and his family are set to leave Miami. The SWAT team helps Horatio and Delko bring in a suspect by blowing off the front of the man’s house with explosives. Source: SpoilerFix.com
Spoiler #3: When 18-year-old Brian Partney is murdered in a hotel elevator while on vacation with his parents, Horatio suspects Brian was randomly killed as a gang initiation, because a black bandana was left at the crime scene. A key card on the victim leads to Mitch Peña, a guest who happens to be staying on the same floor on which the elevator stopped when Brian was shot. Peña insists that he scared Brian when he got too close to Peña’s girlfriend, but he had no reason to murder him. Shane, Brian’s younger brother, recalls seeing a guy speed away on a motorcycle at the time of the murder. Tread marks and vegetable oil used for performance bikes lead the CSIs to a bike shop owned by Vasco Torres, who has known connections to the Cobra gang. Unfortunately, when the team gets to the bike yard, the bike Shane spotted is on fire, leaving the team with nothing. They also question Luis Mendoza, the hotel bellman who handled the Partneys’ luggage. Mendoza lives in gang territory, and his uniform jacket was found with Brian’s blood, but he swears he’s innocent. When Brian’s father, Roger, vows revenge, threatening to take matters into his own hands, Horatio has him followed. However, Horatio is unable to prevent Mendoza from being attacked while working his second job at a construction site. The CSIs eventually learn that Shane, angry about his brother’s murder, attacked Mendoza. Still on the hunt for Brian’s murderer, Calleigh and Delko track down a pocket watch that Brian carried and find the missing bullet at the bottom of the elevator shaft. In the end, the CSIs piece together what really happened: Mitch Peña gave Vasco Torres his gun and ordered him to kill Brian as his initiation into the Cobra gang. Unable to cope with the grief, Brian’s mother takes the gun that Roger recently bought and shoots Torres as he is being escorted out of the police department. Guest stars Leslie Hope, Dean Cain. Spoiler #1: An attempt to kill Calleigh puts not only her personal life at risk, but also her career. Source: TV Guide

Spoiler #3: While off duty, Calleigh is forced to act quickly when someone in a Dodge Magnum points a gun at her and then backs up and accelerates full force at her. She shoots and kills the driver, which sends the car crashing into a sporting goods store, killing an innocent woman shopping inside. The passenger escapes, but blood left at the scene leads them to Pete Morton, a known criminal. An autopsy of the innocent victim, Valerie Gaynor, reveals that she was dead prior to being run over, and paint found on her body leads them to Dave Keppling, a substitute art teacher at the school where she taught science. Keppling claims that he and Gaynor were dating and that on the day of her death, she seemed on edge. When the CSIs go through Gaynor’s locked desk, they find a journal documenting drug deals, some bags containing drug residue and a complaint arrest affidavit by a former student of hers, Charlie Sheridan. Complicating the entire investigation, Calleigh’s credibility comes into question when she admits to having had two drinks before the incident happened. Ultimately, a drug trafficking ring is uncovered, in which Dave Keppling used his substitute teacher status to get kids in different schools to deal drugs. These drugs were made by mixing and grinding them with hard candy and cold medicine to create designer flavors, and distributed in athletic shoes supplied by the sporting goods store. Valerie Gaynor discovered it all and was trying to expose the drug operation. To shut her up, Keppling killed her with a dumbbell when she went to confront the store owner. While Keppling was in the process of moving Valerie’s body, Calleigh walked by the storefront. Afraid she had seen something, Keppling and his crooks tried to get rid of her. Unfortunately for them, they had no idea who they were dealing with. Source: CBS
Episode 6.10: My Nanny
Air Date: November 26, 2007
Spoiler #1: A wealthy family’s nanny is murdered during a lavish party. Source: TV Guide
Spoiler #2: When Vanessa Waters, the nanny to the Lambert family, is stabbed to death with a ceramic knife during a party at the Lambert residence, Horatio and his team investigate the world of really good-looking nannies and the unofficial services they provide to very wealthy families. The office safe of Vanessa’s boss, Dennis Lambert, is subsequently robbed of $250k, and Horatio discovers a hidden surveillance camera. The CSIs learn that the mother, Kate Lambert, secretly installed the camera to spy on her husband. The footage yields some suspicious footage of Dennis and Vanessa having a clandestine conversation in the office bathroom prior to her death. Kate apparently fired Vanessa, and the suitcases in her room, assumed to be for the three-month cruise that she was to go on with the Lamberts, were really because she had to move out. In Vanessa’s suitcase is a photo of her with Matthew Finn, one of the catering guys working at the party. The CSIs discover that he and Vanessa dated, but they broke up because she didn’t want kids. Both the suspect list and their motives continue to increase as they learn that Ron Coswell, a worker at the nanny agency, happened to be in Vanessa’s room right before she was stabbed. Coswell convinced Vanessa to give him the combination to the safe after she told him that she was fired. Another nanny, Mia Fernandez, is also a person of great interest because it turns out she poisoned Vanessa’s food in hopes that she would get sick, and Fernandez could take her place on the cruise. In the end, the murderer turns out to be the obsessive ex-boyfriend Matthew Finn, who was angered because Vanessa got along really well with the kids but claimed she didn’t want to have any with him. Episode 6.11 – Guerillas In the Mist
Spoiler: oratio and his team arrive at the scene to find the bloody, sprawled-out remains of three gun smugglers who have just been annihilated by what looks like a rare and illegal electric gun known as “the vaporizer,” which can fire over 100,000 rounds per minute. Horatio must not only find the killer, he must also track down this weapon before it is sold to the wrong people. The CSIs learn that the three victims worked for Gabriel Soto, a known criminal who was behind the smuggling operation. It turns out that US Customs contracted with a private security firm, Peregrine, to shut down Soto’s operation.
Peregrine’s Steve Lancaster admits to gunning down the three smugglers, but hides behind the Patriot Act: he claims that the Act protects his company from prosecution while they’re engaged in their contractual duties. Soon, however, Lancaster is found murdered. Alexx discovers that he was stunned unconscious and killed by an air bubble injected into his eye that made its way into his heart. Lancaster’s killer is revealed to be an old Navy SEAL buddy who is disgruntled about Peregrine because he claims to have founded the company.
The CSIs soon learn that Peregrine has had the “the vaporizer” in their possession all along. Further investigation reveals that Gabriel Soto has been trying to cut a deal with Peregrine to sell the gun to his Russian buyer and split the profits. However, Peregrine has been trying to get rid of Soto so that they can deal directly with the Russians and keep all the profits. Ultimately, Horatio intercepts the deal with the Russians. Episode 6.12 – Miami Confidential
Air Date: December 17, 2007
Spoiler #1: The team investigates the charred remains of Rachel Hemming in her condo, which was being used as a meth lab. The circuit breakers were duct taped, which prevented them from shutting off when the power overloaded, causing an explosion. Her autopsy reveals that there was some type of melted metal device on her flesh, which turns out to be a communications wire.
Rachel was working with Agent Mike Farallon as an undercover informant to take down Jeremy Broyles, her landlord, who was behind the drug trafficking. Other prints found on Rachel’s neck are linked to her step-brother, who claims to have traveled from Ohio to try to convince her to get help. A discolored photo in the condo reveals that she and Farallon had more than just a professional relationship. The photo also had a threatening note written on the back. Farallon was known to sleep with his informants, leading Natalia to question a past informant, Jane Duncroft. Jane admits to confronting Rachel with the photo, which she threatened to show Mike’s wife. The news worsens when Alexx discovers that Rachel was pregnant. All signs point to Farallon as the lead suspect who wanted to cover up his indiscretions. Further DNA evidence reveals that the father was Rachel’s step-brother.
Blood found on a piece of glass in Rachel’s condo is linked to the landlord, Jeremy Broyles, who eventually admits to killing Rachel after he suspected she was working undercover. Natalia also discovers disturbing audio surveillance from the wire Rachel wore; Farallon heard her murder taking place and did nothing to stop it. Source: CBS.
Spoiler #2: A series of twists and turns really turns up the heat on this investigation.
According to CSI Files sources, “Miami Confidential” opens with Ryan driving up to a condominium in a cul-de-sac. There are patrol cars and crime scene tape, and he picks up his kit and heads for the front door. Once he signs in and puts booties over his shoes, he walks into the living room to meet Alexx, who is standing next to the body.
The woman, Rachel Hemming, was thrown backwards through a glass-top coffee table. Closer examination reveals that a wine glass that had been sitting on the table must have broken, the stem jabbing into her neck and killing her. Ryan puts up a fuming tent to try to get prints from the scene, but something goes wrong. An oscillating fan sparks, causing the tent to catch on fire, and Ryan and Alexx barely get out of the condo before there is an explosion.
Calleigh and Sgt Tripp survey the scene after the explosion. The fuming tent has melted to the victim’s body, and she is covered with burns. Their evidence will most likely be compromised. Calleigh turns the body over and sees that Rachel’s back, where it was pressed against the floor, was protected from the brunt of the fire and explosion. They might be able to get something after all.
Calleigh walks over to the cause of the explosion: a meth lab that was hidden from the rest of the living room by a partition that was destroyed by the blast. Card tables are turned over, and electric cook tops and glassware are strewn all over the floor. A spill in the lab caused chemicals to fuel the flames, but the fire had to get started somehow. She looks at the electrical outlet in the wall, which is charred.
Natalia examines the electrical panel. The circuit breakers were taped to prevent them from shutting off. The oscillating fan overloaded the circuit, and the power surge started the fire. Believing that the taped circuit breakers may have been part of an insurance scam, Ryan and Horatio question the landlord, Jeremy Broyles, but he says that he didn’t know about the meth lab. He claims to have given Rachel privacy because she was a good tenant. Broyles has prior convictions in his record for drugs, but they need to prove that he was involved in this case.
In the morgue, Alexx is preparing to wash Rachel’s body to begin her autopsy, and Eric comes in. He tells her that he is just in time–he wants to see if the fuming tent preserved any prints on her body before the fire started. He finds a print at the base of her neck. The print gets a hit in AFIS: Zach Hemming, Rachel’s brother. Calleigh brings him in for questioning. He admits to coming down from Ohio to try to get Rachel to come home. She had run away several months earlier and he had finally tracked her down, but when she told him to leave, he claims that he went without a fight. Calleigh isn’t convinced–why come all that way just to turn around at the first sign of resistance? She suggests that he might have pushed her to gain control, thus killing her accidentally, but he denies it.
A melted plastic box found on Rachel’s body leads the team to a new conclusion: Rachel was a narc. They trace it back to Mike Farallon, the FBI agent that Natalia worked with in the past, who first appeared in “Chain Reaction” earlier this season. Mike says that he gave Rachel the chance to avoid jail time for possession with intent to distribute by getting him information. Could she have gotten too close and drawn the attention of the leader of the meth operation? Things become even more complicated when it is revealed that Rachel was hiding another secret: she was pregnant.
