Hope for Haiti: Here’s How You Can Help!

I know we have all been touched by the enormous tragedy in Haiti. Watching the news reports simply breaks my heart. I am still bitter about the way that New Orleans was ignored and is still struggling, but I can’t let that interfere with helping with the current emergency in Haiti. They too need help. At least this time, perhaps our concern and our money will be able to do some good to help other human beings in desperate need.

George Clooney has rounded up a number of others and has gotten the major TV networks on board for a big national telethon for Haiti this Friday. The event will be call Hope for Haiti and will air on MTV, VH1, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, The CW, HBO and CMT on Friday, Jan. 22 at 8PM ET. George has enlisted Wyclef Jean and Anderson Cooper to help lead the program. I hope you will tune in and will offer any help you can.

UPDATE! Performance artists that will perform in this televised global event have now been announced!

Happy New Year, 2010!!

It’s the beginning of the new calendar year once again. Nothing is really any different than it was yesterday, but the fact that we start a new year on the calendar usually makes people think about making a fresh start and trying to make things even better in the new year.

Whether or not you make New Year’s resolutions, I wish for each of you a prosperous, happy and peaceful new year!

CSI: Fanatic Named in Top Sites for CSI Fans

You may be interested to know about a site called the Forensic Files. It’s a site for people looking into the study of forensic sciences. It just released a list of the top 25 sites for fans of the three CSI series. This blog, CSI: Fanatic is listed as #4, under the official CSI show site.

It’s a very distinguished list of sites and you might want to go check out the other ones too. Each site has its own types of information available to fans of the shows and it never hurts to check multiple sites.

I’m honored that this blog was included with the other great resources!

Those Ultra-Cool Magnetic Reading Glasses

Fans of CSI: NY see Dr. Sid Hammerback, played by Robert Joy, use his totally cool snap-together reading glasses to get a closer look at the victims each week. Am I the only one that has wondered about these interesting accessories?

Well, I’ve done some research and found that we can all be just as cool, because we can own our own pair of them. I found them here for $24.99. They click together with little magnets on either side of the bridge of the nose.

In my mind, they offer three advantages their owner:

Until they are needed, they can hang around one’s neck. No longer would we have to fumble or search for our reading glasses each time we need them.
They would help us read things up-close. (This one is obvious!)
We would instantly gain “Cool points!” (enough said…)
