Those Ultra-Cool Magnetic Reading Glasses

Fans of CSI: NY see Dr. Sid Hammerback, played by Robert Joy, use his totally cool snap-together reading glasses to get a closer look at the victims each week. Am I the only one that has wondered about these interesting accessories?
Well, I’ve done some research and found that we can all be just as cool, because we can own our own pair of them. I found them here for $24.99. They click together with little magnets on either side of the bridge of the nose.
In my mind, they offer three advantages their owner:
- Until they are needed, they can hang around one’s neck. No longer would we have to fumble or search for our reading glasses each time we need them.
- They would help us read things up-close. (This one is obvious!)
- We would instantly gain “Cool points!” (enough said…)

William Petersen Made it to the Big Leagues!
June 20, 2008 by Lynn
One good thing about this Blog-Off, it made me dig even deeper than ever for things to post - It’s tough to find 24 things to post in one day that I’ve never covered before….
But then, I found these photos of William Petersen throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs vs. Marlins game. The Chicago Cubs lost to the Florida Marlins 9-0 at Wrigley Field in Chicago May 30, 2007.

Robert David Hall Celebrates 15 Yrs for ADA
June 20, 2008 by Lynn
Fifteen years ago before July 26, 2005, America passed the Americans with Disabilities Act. It was a huge victory for differently-abled people who had previously been excluded from many public places because of their limitations in mobility.
On the fifteenth anniversary of the passing of the act, Robert David Hall along with fellow CSI stars William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger & Jorja Fox and the Screen Actors’ Guild celebrated. As you may know, Robert David Hall was seriously injured when an 18-wheeler ran into his car. He had to have both legs amputated and received burns over most of his body. He now works to raise awareness for people with disabilities and his character, Dr. Albert Robbins M.D., on CSI: Vegas is openly disabled.
My hat’s off to him for helping raise awareness and serving as such a wonderful role model to others.

Melina Kanakaredes Celebrated Chef Ramsay
Chef Gordon Ramsay (star of FOX network’s Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares) celebrated his West Coast debut with the opening of his new restaurant “Gordon Ramsay” at The London West Hollywood Hotel and Melina Kanakaredes was there to try the new restaurant on June 4. she looks happy, so I’m sure the food was extraordinary!

Khandi Alelexander Looks Amazing
I am still sad that Khandi Alexander has left the cast CSI: Miami. Hers was one of my favorite characters on the show. She brought kindness and compassion to each episode whe was in. *sigh*
But she certainly looked happy when she attended the National Kidney Foundation 29th Annual ‘Gift Of Life’ held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel on May 18. In fact, she looks fabulous!!

Rex Linn Likes Those Hawaiian Shirts
Hey, every guy needs a “look”, right? For the character Charlie Harper on Two & a Half Men, it’s the bowling shirt. For Criss Angel, the illusionist, it’s the leather and stud look. CSI: Miami’s Rex Linn, aka, Det. Frank Tripp, the perfect look is Hawaiian. Here are some photos of him taken at two different events. See? He rocks the look!
William Petersen to Get Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
June 20, 2008 by Jonathan
William L. Petersen will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, next year. The CSI: Vegas star is definitely an icon of the new millenium, with his good looks and dead pan delivery. His work on the epic procedural series has led to a broad appeal, and certainly the right to his place on the world famous sidewalk.
The other recipients represent a motley crue, indeed, including the likes of Robert Downey Jr.; Hugh Jackman; William H. Macy; Cameron Diaz; Tim Burton; Kyra Sedgwick; John Stamos; Kenny “Baby Face” Edmonds; Dave Koz; Harry Shearer of Saturday Night Live, KCRW, and The Simpsons fame; musical artists The Miracles, Rush, Shakira, and, finally, The Village People.
Notably, legendary, 76-year-old chimpanzee actor, Cheeta, was once again left off the list.
Gary Sinise & Jon Voigt Caught by Paparazzi
Here are some candid shots of Gary Sinise that were taken as he and fellow actor Jon Voigt were leaving Mr. Chows after enjoying dinner together in Beverly Hills on June 19. He only looks mildly annoyed. I’m not sure if I would be so controlled.

CSI: Miami’s Touch Screen Technology: Real World Still Catching Up
June 20, 2008 by Jonathan
It really is cool, on CSI: Miami, when they toss a bunch of evidence onto a table, and then use what looks like a billion dollar vertical, translucent touch screen to manipulate what they have into quick “what if” scenarios. It’s really, really cool. Too bad such technology is not available. Or, is it?
Microsoft Surface

Microsoft Surface user manipulates photos.
For the past several years, Microsoft has been working on an interactive surface similar –in many ways- to the screen used by CBS’ Hummer-driving Miami CSIs. Microsoft Surface comes in a 30-inch diagonal screen that uses rear projection and infrared cameras to recognize multiple, simultaneous hand gestures and objects laid onto the surface.
