LOST’s Josh Holloway as Supporting Cast for CSI:Vegas

November 15, 2007 by Jason

I’m looking forward to the premiere of Season 3 of LOST. Premiere date is Wednesday, February 6th. Josh Holloway’s character of Sawyer from the show is one of my favorites.

Here’s a clip from an old CSI:Vegas episode, “Assume Nothing“ that had Josh Holloway from LOST appearing as a supporting bit part at a hotel crime scene.

If you’re a LOST fan, be sure and check-out the Approaching Lost blog that’s also a part of the b5media network.

Word of Warning

July 26, 2007 by Jason

Just another quick reminder to people commenting to be careful about the information you share in your comments. If you do want to share your e-mail address hoping one of the cast members of CSI: will respond to you, I’d recommend spam-proofing it by saying something like jason(at)b5media(dot)com.

Otherwise, comment away! We’re loving the dialogue.

CSI Poll Questions

May 28, 2007 by Jason

We’ve been getting lots of comments about people wanting to vote on our polls but not being able to do so. We’ve looked into the problem and are still trying to determine what’s causing and why things aren’t working as expected.

Here’s a little test poll for us to use. You should be able to vote on this poll once a day without any problems. Let me know if you’re not able to vote once per day.

Hello From the New Kid on the Block

March 1, 2007 by Lynn

I’m totally thrilled to be coming on board as a second blogger for the CSI Fanatic site! Jason has done a great job so far, but we discussed the opportunity to offer you both the male and the female point of view about the shows.

You may already have run across my other b5media blogs; Reality Exploits, Searching Bones and House is Right. Now it’s a thrill to be able to write about the CSI shows too.

I’m a huge fan of all three of the CSI shows and, thanks to my trusty TiVo, I have never missed an episode of any of them in first run. They each have their own completely distinct feel and I love them all.

For one thing, as a person that works as a web designer (the day job), I noticed that the three shows are even filmed in supersaturated colors that are distinctly their own. For example, the next time you watch an episode of CSI: Miami, you might pay attention to the fact that everything seems to have a “golden” glow. It’s like they filmed it through a golden filter.

Then, compare the next episode of CSI: New York. It has a definite bluish tint to it, much like they used a blue filter when filming it.

And then, watch the next CSI: Vegas and you’ll see that they film it with what looks like a red filter.

Trust me. I was out of town one time and watched an episode of each, one after the other and it was very obvious that way. I think it’s a really fun thing that even if I flip to one of the CSI shows without knowing which one I’m watching, it’s easy to tell, just by the lighting.

A similar technique was used when filming the movie Traffic. When they switched from one location and story line to another, the filter (and overall tint) would change to give the viewer a hint about where they were. It’s a great technique.

Keep an eye out for it the next time you watch.

I also love the fact that the cast of each show has a cohesive, yet completely different relationship than in the other two. They all three have the “alpha male” leader, the strong, fabulously attractive female second-in-command and that’s where the similarity ends. I enjoy seeing how each of the characters is developed and grows as the shows progress. You’ll see me comment a lot on the relationships between the people, because that’s an aspect that I’m very interested in. Jason is going to lean more heavily toward the technical and forensic side of things. I think you’ll like the balance we can bring to the site when we combine our writing techniques.

But more than me telling you about my style, I’d love for you to email one of us to tell us what you want to see covered on the site. And if we miss an important thing, PLEASE email to let us know. We want this blog to be one of the most relevant CSI-related sites on the web. So watch for a lot of changes as Jason and I transform the site to cover more aspects of the shows and their casts.

I look forward to interacting with you and helping Jason bring the wonders of CSI to you. :-)

CSI Fanatic is the Red Orbit Blog of the Day!!!

February 19, 2007 by Jason

Red Orbit Blog of the Day AwardWoo hoo! Look at that! We got a little award by being chosen as the Red Orbit Blog of the Day.

To be honest, I’ve never heard of the Red Orbit blog, but now I have and you can say you have too, and that’s what it’s all about folks. Introducing you to good content on the net wherever it may be.

Aside from my Microsoft Weblog being mentioned by one of the editors at ZDNet, this is the only blog award I’ve won, so that’s pretty cool. Now to get back to the blogging.

February 12, 2007 by Jason

American Heart & Stroke AssociationFebruary is a month for big hearts. This year, instead of spending money on gifts, expensive dinners or other extravagences for Valentine’s Day, show some heart and donate to the American Heart & Stroke Association.

b5media has set up a donation drive with the American Heart Association to raise money to fight against heart disease and strokes. During the month of February, we will be campaigning to raise $5,000 for the American Heart Association.
