I’m looking forward to the premiere of Season 3 of LOST. Premiere date is Wednesday, February 6th. Josh Holloway’s character of Sawyer from the show is one of my favorites.
Here’s a clip from an old CSI:Vegas episode, “Assume Nothing“ that had Josh Holloway from LOST appearing as a supporting bit part at a hotel crime scene.

If you’re a LOST fan, be sure and check-out the Approaching Lost blog that’s also a part of the b5media network.

The episode starts off with an attractive female rushing into her apartment and she’s covered in blood. She runs into the bathroom to start washing off the blood all the while hysterically crying.

Detective Flack busts into the door and sees her standing in the bathroom clean and completely naked. As they escort her out of her building Det. Taylor and Stella are examining the victim who’s been stabbed multiple times. Turns out he’s a Mitchell Bentley, a rich boy that was just acquitted of a assault and rape in Central Park. No offensive wounds and running in circles causes Mac and Stella to wonder why he didn’t just run away. They continue searching for clues as to what happened.

In our other victim case, Danny, Dr. Hawkes and Lindsay investigate the body of a woman on the steps of a museum that was shot in the back. Not robbed, just murdered.

With victim number one we find out that the accuracy of the stabbing wound locations did an effective job of immobilizing the victim. The killer “has an intimate knowledge of the human anatomy”. The medical examiner thinks they should be looking for someone with medical knowledge. The naked lady is looking pretty guilty as she was the one the victim was accused of raping, ran by her door man and never asked anyone to call the police. She admits she would have loved to kill him, but she wasn’t the one that did it.

Mac comes in to question the girl now. He’s got a photo of her with her fingerprints all over the victim’s neck, along with a scrap of material from her coat.

Stella finds out that the knives could have been hidden in a female’s hairdo as styling sticks. There was also hairspray residue on the knives also confirming this idea. Mac suggests that the method of murder and evidence found suggests that the placement of each knife is reminiscent of a bull fight. Each knife strategically placed in order with accurate precision.

Dr. Hawkes and the medical examiner determine that the reason for the conflicting entrance/exit wounds from the gun shot is due to the barrel of the gun being placed against the place of entrance and support and pressure on the back of the victim. They suggest that the person ended up shooting himself through the woman’s body as he was wrestling the gun away. Lindsay and Danny go back to the crime scene to look for the bullet in the opposite direction of their existing search.

Stella and Det. Flack go back to the “Casa de Matador Grille” as it’s the location of the victim’s last meal. The maitre’ d said it wasn’t the blonde they expect, but a “hot brunette”. It turns out she made the reservation under the name “Florence Nightingale”, paid for it herself and left very upset but also left a good tip. The reason for her angered departure was because it seems she dropped a fake eye-lash with diamond studs woven into it at a price of $5,000. The brunette ends up being a publisher that was pursuing him for his story.

The suspect brunette hops into the back of the car as Det. Flack is flirting with another cop. She, in a very cocky attitude, says since they’re going to be following her, they should have her itinerary. After a few more wisecracks laced with more attitude, she leaves the car. Det. Flack says that she’s annoying and jumps into the back seat to et some evidence so the next time he sees her he can put her in handcuffs.

Through some funky bacteria, the team tracks down that the girl at the museum got food poisoning along with some other people. One of those other people showed up at an ER and demanded high-strength pain killer, a little odd for food poisoning but not so much for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was earlier acquitted for murder as well.

It was a rich female’s CEO club of murder. Both women had been raped and were looking for revenge by becoming “judge, jury and executioner” according the Mac. She killed Mitchell Bentley and left him in the park so the blonde would find him. As the blonde and brunette were walking past each other in the hallway though, I got the feeling the blonde was in on the planning as well.

If you didn’t see the initial post for this two-part series you can pick up at the beginning here.

We pick-up the the case with the beginning the final hour on the “Without A Trace” time slot. He’s on a Greyhound type bus with the boy. He asks the bus driver to let him and his son off because he’s not feeling well and they need to find a doctor.

Gil and Jack show up in Hillside, Arizona where a car was stolen. Gil finds a wrapper for “Drift Off” over-the-counter sleep medication in the car lot. Grissom goes back to Vegas to process Gina’s car for more evidence and clues, while Jack and his team investigate more history of Wicker by tracking down his sister that used to work maintenance in a railroad yard.

Gina showed up at her son’s, Coby, school with Wicker. A teacher ended up letting Wicker come into the school and see his art work. I’d have a fit if a teacher did something like that with my son or daughter at school. While he’s talking to the boy, he lets him know that he’s his father and that he ran out on Coby and his mom. He tells the boy he’s talking the three of them camping. Jack finds out from one of Coby’s friends that they were heading to Tucson. Jack ends up finding a skeleton buried in a shallow grave in Tucson.

In Tucson, he flew back to New York City. The FBI team are waiting in their offices for Wicker’s sister to show up. While they’re waiting, Gil shows up in the lobby with some of the evidence. The body they found had some evidence that he’s still working on and they set him up in the “basement” of the FBI offices in their labs.

The last time his sister had seen him was about 6 years ago. She was dating a guy that had two kids and she told Wicker he couldn’t stay there because they didn’t have room. The other reason was that if he left after two weeks with no warning the kids wouldn’t know what to think about it. Gil confirms that the body Jack found in Tucson was the body of Jason Taylor from New York City 6 years earlier.

With that news, Jack seems to have taken it really hard. I wonder what the connection is between this specific case and Jack. Gil found a gift card in the back of Gina’s car, the FBI team tracked it down and it was recently swiped in Astoria, New York, where Wicker used to live in 1996. When they go to his old house they find a dead body in the closet, the current occupant. In the house they also find a cup with a lipstick print on it.

The counselor that was working with him is getting interviewed by the FBI team. He shares with them that he was working with him with some anger issues. He was in trouble with his job and required to go in counseling. He found out in his session that he may have killed his brother when he was young. The counselor feared that the reason Terry Wicker was sharing it was because he was afraid he might end up hurting Gina and his son. Gina’s already dead.

Wicker called a hooker and had her come in to make the boy stop crying. She didn’t like the idea of helping but Wicker got angry, smacked her and told her to make a sandwich for the kid. The kid saw him kill the occupant of the house and that’s why he was crying. The kid figured out that Wicker was probably going to kill the hooker. The boy told Wicker he knew he couldn’t do anything and that he should let the lady go and they could sit on the couch and watch the video again. It was a video of Wicker with his newborn boy.

A painter started talking to the boy on the street and asked him when his “dad” was going to move his car so he could move his truck. Coby told the painter he wasn’t his dad. The guy then asked if he needed help and then Wicker showed up. Coby tried to make a run for it, Wicker sliced the painter’s arm up.

The FBI team shows Wicker’s sister pictures of ladies in various cities with jewelry; jewelry that Terry had given his sister. Jack uses his sister to try and locate Terry. His sister starts crying and can’t do it. Jack Malone has to interrupt and threaten Terry by saying his got enough evidence to convict his sister for possession of stolen property and being an accessory to murder.

Jack meets Wicker in a train yard. Wicker says he let the boy go after he finally caught him when he ran away. Wicker and Jack are talking. He says he doesn’t have anything to do now. Wicker tells Jack to tell his sister he’s sorry, then pulls out a gun and shoots himself in the side of the head. They find the boy in a railyard in a train car sleeping. With the boy’s mom dead, Wicker’s sister arrives and we get the impression that she’ll adopt him and take care of the boy.

Gil and Jack drive up to a house. It’s the location of the original murder when Jason Taylor was taken. Jack said when he first arrived he couldn’t believe anything bad would happen in this neighborhood. Jack asks Gil if he ever thinks about hanging it up and quitting. It seems Jack’s also had enough of his life. He’s showing up at the parent’s house to let them know they’ve recovered their son’s body. What a tough job.

Tonight’s our special cross-over extended episode with the “Without A Trace” cast members. The episode starts off immediately with a kill. A mom is playing with her son and then goes to take a bath. She hears a noise and then someone comes into the bathroom and bludgeons her with some kind of object. Looked like a ball-peen hammer to me.

Grissom shows up. The boy is murdered in the living room and the mother is in the bathroom on the floor covered with a towel. He asks Greg Sanders how long he’s been there, which he responds with “6 hours”. Gil asks why the bodies haven’t been released and Catherine says because the FBI ordered them to stop processing.

Jack Malone shows up in a helicopter and enters the house. Gil asks him what’s going on and he says that 6 years ago the boy was kidnapped from his babysitter and the babysitter was killed. The only clue is that both murders only had a bloody palm print as evidence left. Jack Malone is seeming less than helpful or congenial as he normally does on “Without A Trace”.

Not sure why, but the CSI team seems to be acting much more like the BAU unit from “Criminal Minds” on this case. Talking much more about the killer than just the evidence in front of them and what happened. More about who, than what.

After talking to the medical examiner, Willows finds out that 30 minutes after death the mother was attacked and raped again. The kid’s name is “Jason”. Jack says a random kidnapping is very rare. Gil corrects him by saying that 100 kidnappings were listed last year.

Sanders, Stokes and Warrick are investigating the house and find poker player stats and a computer with various gambling websites on the screen. Out of place for the mother to have these items when everything else in the house gives the message that she had nothing to do with gambling.

They track a suspect down at a poker tournament. Warrick looking at him scares him out of his chair and he starts running. Jack gets a great shot at him when he steps out from behind a slot-machine and punches him right in the face to lay him on the floor.

Jack questions him first. He’s leading him into a conversation. It’s so vague though I don’t think the suspect and Jack are talking about the same thing. The suspect says he doesn’t know anything about New York City. Jack shoves him down on the table and Det. Brass has to come in and interrupt him. A picture is then on the table and the suspect ends up being the father of the boy. He’s from Utah and brought his son with him to Vegas for a poker tournament. He had stolen money from a church, but dropped off the boy at an ex-girlfriend’s house where the two are killed.

Jack and Gil continue their alpha-male challenges and Jack questions Gil on his office decor. Our second body of the episode is found by Sara and another detective (was the new paramedic on the old show “Third Watch”. Good to see him working again in TV.)

Another murder scene from the same guy. This time he left the hammer. Took a .45 hand gun. Still stacked credit cards on the table. This victim’s husband was found outside the home badly beaten. It appears that the husband was alive and watching as his wife was raped and murdered.

Sara is obviously struggling emotionally with everything. We got a teaser the last couple of episodes. After finding this last body she appears on the brink of a breakdown.

Grissom tracks down that all the previous murders have been close to a railroad track. The video tech in the lab gets more details about the suspect from the Tangiers video feeds. The notice him look at a poster and see a cocktail waitress. He gets her name from her name tag on the poster and goes to visit the casino she works at. He wins $2500 at the slots, and because of that Stokes gets a fingerprint from the tax form he’s required to fill out. Later a police officer pulls him over on a secluded highway in Gina’s car. There appeared to be a kid in the backseat that the officer waved at when he walked by the car, but the suspect pulls out a gun and shoots him multiple times in the chest and kills him.

The suspect was married to Gina when he was sent to prison for burglary. Jack and Grissom appear to be getting close, but end up just finding an empty car in the railroad yard. There’s only one train moving and they try to run it down and stop it. Instead, they both get on the train, this is the scene we saw in the previews of Jack asking Gil if he misses the lab. Ends up that the suspect paid a bum a $100 to get on the train and wear his hat. They go back to the car and find Gina dead in the trunk. Gina had a son that the suspect, Wicker, picked up at school and was in the car with him.

There were a number of photos that were very new to me and cast Jorja in a completely different image than what I’ve grown accustomed to in her role as Sara Sidle.

Two models dressed all in black and carrying UZI’s machine guns zip line into the show and start shooting fake rounds over the crowd. It turns out it was just a stunt as part of the show.

Two models dressed all in black and carrying UZI’s machine guns zip line into the show and start shooting fake rounds over the crowd. It turns out it was just a stunt as part of the show. The models strip off their black jackets and begin the show to the crowd’s applause. A few minutes later a new model enters from back stage and ends up being electrocuted when she tries to fasten a pair of handcuffs to a pole at the end of the walkway.

Ryan and Calleigh continue to investigate and trace it down to the lighting. They find a group of theater-pin lighting connectors with white tape with each of the model’s names written on the tape. Each model had their own lighting design. [Side Note: I do lighting design and have also done a few fashion shows. I can't think of a single reason why any designer would put the names on the plugs. You don't write on that stuff, you write on your lighting board. Everything related to light cues and design at that level is controlled by the board]

The victim turns out to be the wife of one of Horatio’s arch nemesis, LeBrock, in prison. Horatio goes into visit him and question him on the death of his wife. While he’s there he threatens Horatio by questioning the protection of his son taking place in prison. Horatio talks to both his son and his protection warning them of something going on.

Det. Frank Tripp calls in Ryan to assist him in collecting prints from a visitor stall at the prison. Ryan seemed a little cocky with Tripp. Seems odd to me for someone that’s working hard to get back into the good graces of the rest of the team. The collection of fingerprints leads them to the son of LeBrock, Scott LeBrock. It turns out the FBI and Justice Department have Scott involved in and ongoing investigation and they want the department and specifically Horatio to back off of him and not spook him.

Horatio calls Natalia to call in some favors with her friends in the FBI. She asks her friends and he denies they’re doing any surveillance on Scott LeBrock. They seem to owe each other though because Natalia convinces him to give her some tapes if she promises to get them back to him before any suspects anything.

Ryan and Calleigh discover that the wire used to create the electrical arc that killed Alicia, matches the platinum wire in Alicia’s dress. When they question him, he says the entire line of clothes has platinum in it. When Eric discovers the burnt clothes of the model have a distinct smell, they determine that the clothes were made of heroin. More accurately not “made” of it as Calleigh said, but soaked in it so it could be transported to other countries.

Alicia, LeBrock’s wife, found out about the smuggling and was going to report him. The designer was working for LeBrock transporting the stuff, and LeBrock had to teach Alicia a lesson for interrupting his business deals. Horatio questions LeBrock to get this information and while talking to him, his son’s prison “protection”, Oscar, gets blown up by some sort of landmine device that LeBrock planted somehow.

Eric finds out that the detonation device for the bomb was a cellphone. They found the SIMM card. Ryan and Calleigh try to back-trace the number to get a name. No name results are found. They track to the nearest cell tower, which is the closest one to the Miami Dade Detention Center. They perform a search, but I’m doubting they’re going to find anything now. Oops! I’m wrong, they find it under Horatio’s son, Kyle’s, bunk. What a coincidence. I’m guessing Kyle was forced to do it for his own protection.

After combing through all the dresses and wardrobe for the fashion show, they find the missing platinum string came from the redhead’s dress. The redhead says she didn’t do it because Joe LeBrock made her, but because Alicia didn’t deserve LeBrock. Kyle got the phone from LeBrock, who told him it was a peace offering, but to “keep it hidden”. A recently processed inmate found the phone and made the call that killed Oscar. My question is how did the guy know specifically at what time to make the call so the bomb would detonate when Oscar was standing right on top of it?

Ryan discovers that the FBI video shows Scott LeBrock enticing a young boy into his car and the FBI agent grabs the kid out but doesn’t arrest him. Horatio uses the video of LeBrock’s son to scare him. I guess convicts don’t take lightly to pedophiles and Horatio says LeBrock will pay for his son’s sins. The threat seems to work because LeBrock won’t confirm that he knows who Kyle Harmon is in the court room. It’s a little irritating to me that Horatio plays and influences the system to protect his son, I understand his motives, but the “uphold the law” part seems a little lost on Horatio in this episode.

I think this is a genius cross-promotion and expansion of a brand across media outlets. I’m wondering who thought up this promotion at CBS? Or, was it Jerry Bruckheimer himself? Anyone know?

A.J. Buckley and Melina Kanakaredes were into the game in the “Down the Rabbit Hole” episode, do you think they’re real gamers? Anyone know for sure? I can’t imagine them letting out their avatar to the real world. Second Life is probably one of the few places they can actually escape the glamour and spotlight of the Hollywood life and paparazzi.

If you’re a player in Second Life, what’s your avatar? Should I join Second Life? How much of my “real world” time will I lose becoming engrossed in my Second Life?

Would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for this.

We then see the green-haired girl we saw in all the spoiler photo shots for this episode. Sheldon Hawkes is now on the scene and taking photos.

When the rest of the team arrives and gets the explanation of the scene, Stella notices that Mac isn’t sleeping well still and asks him about it. As Mac is examining the body, his phone starts ringing, it’s 3:33am. Sheldon says he should take it, “it’s early” and “probably important”. Mac ignores the call and Stella notices.

Here’s the deal. The entire episode is spent with Mac running around the worlds of Second Life. Some of the items were a little contrived in my opinion, but I’m also not that familiar with Second Life. How many of you are gamers in Second Life?

I do think that this was a really good episode of CSI:NY though. The plot line is interesting and the players were interesting as well. We found out that Stella is still being actively pursued by the forged documents specialist. Mac has come to the realization the his relationship with Peyton is over because neither one of them can leave the places they call “home”. Mac’s still can’t sleep, probably for a variety of reasons, but the major one is probably his regular calls at 3:33am.

After reading some of the notes about this episode on TV.com, I found out that acute multiple sclerosis isn’t fatal. “Johny”’s plotline was interesting to think about someone with a serious medical condition or terminal illness being able to live an interact in a game like Second Life and be healthy, normal and accepted is pretty cool.

The episode ends with the killer, who took over the avatar of “Venus”, going to the apartment of a congressman to kill him. She’s successful at her kill, but Mac and the rest of the team almost catch her. The fact that they don’t leads us up to the cooperative effort that’s now taking place between CSI:NY and Second Life, for gamers to help capture the killer.

What a brilliant expansion of the plotline into the virtual world and to the audience themselves. Are you in Second Life? Are you going to pursue this plotline? I’d love to hear your story.
