CSI Warrick Brown Remembered

May 17, 2008 by Lynn

We have no confirmation yet as to whether the character of Warrick Brown, played by Gary Dourdan, will live or die. But we do know that unfortunately, he’ll be leaving the show. I can tell by the comments so far that I was not the only person to be shocked beyond words when Warrick was shot in his car at the ending of this week’s CSI episode. I could feel it coming with the scene of them all saying goodbye at the diner and the tone of the song, but I had no idea it would be so graphic, or so shocking.

Over the past eight seasons we’ve seen Warrick go through some very personal and difficult times in his life as well as watching the romantic tension between his character and that of Catherine Willows. He’s gotten married, divorced, been framed for murder, overcome a gambling addiction, helped save his fellow CSIs from many close calls, be happy and sad and through it all we’ve enjoyed him on the show.

I, for one, have not only enjoyed the character, but enjoyed watching such a handsome man in the role. Gary Dourdan has been one of my favorite actors to watch for eight years. What a great-looking guy! And now to find that he’s had recent drug-related problems, well, it’s hard to take. I will remain a fan of Gary and will hope for his outcome with the drug charges and his career to be good ones for him. I can just feel that we haven’t seen the last of him. He’s a great actor and I look forward to the future roles he will play.

Best of luck in everything, Gary! You are truly loved by your fans!

And as for the fate of Warrick Brown, I guess we’ll have to wait for the beginning of season 9 for the answer…

I think the character played by Mr. Dourdan made the series interesting as they all were “family” that worked efficiently together as a unit. More than a job it was a fine group of people coming together with their diversified expertise for the purpose of solving murders and apprehending criminals.
I as a black woman am hurt to see Warrick leave the show. However, we must all take into consideration that it probably was his choice. Moreover, he is a character in a television show which has very little to do with who he really is as a person.
I too was deeply disturbed in the matter in which he died. Yet, there is life after CSI. He did his job as an actor with integrity and yes he is easy on the eyes. Perhaps now is the time for Mr. Dourdan to spread his wings and try other avenues of his profession.
Regrettably I have lost considerable interest in the series now that he no longer a part of the crew. Still I wish the show success for those who continue to find it intriguing.
Thanks for allowing me to express my feelings.

Well, he must have a new contract in another movie that pays allot more money. He is a superstar and I will definately keep my eye out for him!

I regret to say that I will probably never watch csi again. Warrick made the show. I do like some of the others like Grissom, Nick, and Kathreen, but without Warrick whats the use. The excitemint won’t be there anymore. It is a sad day in my life. Good luck Gary! I know that drugs can cause problems, but you are beautiful, and only human. God forgives, and so do I.

Come on people, get off the race thing!!!!! Every time an African American has to deal with something it’s everyone else’s fault but if it’s a caucasian no body cares. That’s the whole reason for the horrendous article I read on the web today about all the people who are up in arms about Obama winning the election. There are death threats, burned crosses and on and on. This needs to STOP. I don’t care what color your skin is, what religion you practice or anything else. If I like you as a person or as an actor or as a co-worker or whatever walk of life then I like you; if I don’t like you then I don’t like you simply because we don’t click. Think of Speedle on CSI Miami, he’s white and they killed him off, and he was my favorite on that show.

  5. JT says:

    Bravo SM

As an African American female who loves the whole cast of CSI. I was sadden to see anyone killed off, however, I did not look at Warricks’ death as a racial issue and if given a choice I would rather in killed off than in prison. People are people and it is sad to see that we can not get past skin color even in the year 2008.
I do believe that the presidential elections showed that we all have something to work on and not just race, as a teacher, I find myself in the teacher against student or parent pitfalls. LET’S JUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE Do

If Gary has a drug problem pray for him, but don’t use the excuse that he isn’t the only to justify wrong. What are we saying to the future generations. We do have a responsibility to them. (I’m going to stop before I get on my soapbox :) )

I am so hurt that I did not even get a chance to see the episode where he died. I like too know when will it air again. My opinion is that they always take the good black actors away, just when the storyline is getting good. I really enjoyed Dourdan’s character.

  7. JT says:

    Cynthia
I missed the episode and went on the internet to watch. Maybe you can still see it.

  8. csinydanny says:

Why did Warrick die. Now I hate that PI. Warrick rocked in CSI, Danny rocked in CSI NY, and Erik rocked in CSI Miami. I cried when Warrick died. (I am a girl) I would cry if any of the CSI NY charecters died. R.I.P Warrick Brown. Rest In Peace :(

  9. Mulder says:

He left CSI because CBS wouldn’t give him a raise. And that sucks. The character “Warrick Brown” dies. Talk about a happy ending.

  10. Andrea says:

I totally agree with everyone! The show is just not the same now… I still like the show but it has changed dramatically. It does not do the same thing for me as it had.. which makes me not so eager to watch it. I hope the producers read comments like these cause they messed up big time.

  11. Sue says:

If Warrick is out - I won’t ever watch CSI again.

The only ‘real’ character on the show, the sexiest character and the one who you is actually believable and he is killed off. As I watched this episode I knew that I will definitely not be tuning in to any more CSI until he returns (as they can make this happen). I hope they realise just how much their show depends on this character and how much viewership they have lost. I hope the ratings drop so low the show closes.

  12. Sachi says:

I am a great fan CSI. It is so unfair that Warwick is dead. The whole team of CSI is fantastic. Killing Warwick is like death in the family. I usually do not cry but this really broung tears in my eyes every moment I watched this episode. Somehow you should bring him back to life. I do not know how do some MAGIC, RBIRTH, REINCARNATE ……… ANYTHING. Do not bring race, religion, colour, lenght, breadth, smell, appearence etectra into this please….

  13. tutty heaven says:

i missed the first episode of the new series, is Brown really dead or is he in a coma or something? I suppose I’d better go onto the show’s web shite and find out.

    Catherine needs my attention.

  14. tutty heaven says:

spolier below - but i’m prob the only one in the whole world who didn’t already know:

In the season 9 premiere, Grissom discovers Warrick’s body in his parked car. Grissom removes him from the car where he discovers that Warrick is still alive. Warrick attempts to inform Grissom of his attacker, but loses the battle and dies in Grissom’s arms. After evidence was found, McKeen was apprehended and arrested for the murder. During the investigation of his death, papers are found in his apartment disclosing that he has a son for whom he was fighting for custody. A video was made where Warrick revealed his dedication to parenting a child and how he learned to care for people from Grissom. Warrick’s funeral is held days later where Grissom delivers an emotional eulogy. A woman holding a baby was at the funeral, presumed to be his ex-wife Tina and son Eli.

With Gil gone, it’s the end of the best csi by far…but then again, there’s always catherines ass.

  15. Beck says:

BRING WARRICK BACK - They are the best CSI, why many questions has no answered, like I did not see the body with the doctor explain how he was shot, how bad the bullet made in his body, nobody talks about anything and they are the best CSI, well I hope they will say, he has to be died until they found who was the bad person inside CSI, and Warrick is back. I am sure who thought this season was mad, stupid, and he did not think about the people who likes Warrick a lot. Please let him come back to CSI

  16. Matteo says:

Yea when I saw that episode of Warrick being graphically shot, and it being in slow motion. It brought tears to my eyes because that show tricks me to think there actually solving murders. I do understand Warrick was getting into some big drugs but man the show will not be the same with out him. Oh, and Gil is retiring or retired and Sara is also leaving. The show will not be the same losing 3 main characters. Just say bye bye to Csi. I will still watch the show but will feel different when watching it.

  17. genesis says:

i will mISSS YOU! WARRICK! =( THAT SUCKS YOUR ACTUALLY LEAVING THE SHOW. YOUR A GREAT ACTOR. CSI WON’T BE THE SAME WITHOUT YOU! NOW. =’( YOU WILL BE MISSED.

  18. Eszter says:

    Hi,

Could anyone help me in answering for my ‘problem’? In which episode (and season) was Gary D. shot?

  19. Jill says:

I am so pissed at CBS. Apparently they and Gary D couldnt come to any contract agreement and so they had to kill him off? Shame on you CBS. Heres anothe viewer you’ve missed. I’m gonna go off and watch Greys Anatomy instead.

  20. Lynn says:

    Eszter:

Warrick was shot in the season 8 finale entitled “For Gedda”, but we didn’t find out whether he survived the gunshot wounds until the season 9 premiere entitled “For Warrick.”

  21. donna says:

  25. Traveler says:

I’m looking for the song that was played in the episode when Warrick died.

    Greetings from Holland.

  26. nicole says:

That man is so attractive. He was basically the only reason I watched everyday without fail until they killed him off. And now I’m done.
