CSI: Miami Losing Khandi Alexander!
According to Michael Ausiello, Khandi Alexander will be leaving CSI: Miami at the end of the season. Apparently, there’s som controversy about her leaving:
Although CBS declined to comment, a Miami insider confirms that Alexander — who has played medical examiner Alexx Woods since day one — is leaving at the end of the season. What’s the story behind this exit? I’m not 100 percent certain, but, from what I gather, it wasn’t one of those mutual deals we’ve been hearing about so much lately. Let’s just say Alexander had some, um, issues with a certain aspect of the show and leave it at that, K?
Meanwhile, Miami’s on the prowl for a new medical examiner to succeed Alexander, and word on the street is the newbie will have male genitalia.
I will miss her on the show and have really loved her character’s compassion and warmth. I only hope that whoever fills the role in the future will be as engaging. What do you think of her leaving? Leave a comment to share your thoughts!

Khandi will be missed. The fact that she’s stayed for 6 years with scarce character development is testimony to her commitment. She’s a credit to any project she’s involved in and was woefully underused in CSI Miami. We’ll be watching for you, Khandi.

She stood out despite not having much screen time. The comment above is right, she didn’t have much character development but she did the most with it. She’ll be missed.

“CSI” is losing Gary Dourdan, with his statement that it wasn’t his idea; “CSI: Miami” is losing Khandi Alexander, with the same comment. So, Exec. Producers, care to comment on firing two major draws to your shows?

It’s a pity!!! For six seasons I’ve been got used to see her on the show, she’s so kind, i’m really sad. I hope whoever fills her place be nicer as she is.

It is sad to see her go. I am curious as to why she is leaving. All my favorite people are leaving CSI shows.

At a time when ratio between Caucasian actors and other ethnic groups is still very large numbers and many of the networks still have shows where there is no diversity at all, it is really a shame that they don’t do more to keep great actors like Dourdan and Alexander. The networks should be ashamed. Alexander and Dourdan will definitley be missed. Talk about six degrees of separation, I just realized that Dourdan lived down the street from me in Brooklyn, back when he was married to Roshumba and I think way back when I worked with Alexander in the travel business.

Is Khandi leaving because she can’t stand David Caruso? I read that he’s a creep.

I think it really sucks that her character is gone. I feel she made the show really interesting. I am going to find it difficult to watch someone else in her place. Especially a man. Because every actor or actress is different.

Last night when I watched this episode, I had no idea that this was going to be her last. I was actually sad at the end.
I loved Khandi Alexander’s character on the show, in fact, I love the whole cast individually and as an ensamble.
I think it can be healthy to mix things up even when the show is as sucessful as CSI Miami.
I would love to see Khandi in different roles in the future as well. To be honest, the only thing I have seen her act in is CSI Miami. Her character here did allow for too much range.
Where Alex Rodirguez, Delko, has been able to be the caring associate, p’ off person, the cop, in action roles, and he also got to portray himself as brain damaged.
As for who may replace her, no one can. Khandi is the only on this planet that can ever bee Dr. Alexx Woods.
Peace,
Mike

I was blown away with the departure of Khandi Alexander, her presence and the character she played is one of the main reason me and my family and friends watch the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if the show lost some of its ratings. This is sad.

I found her character compassionate and engaging. She injected warmth and humanity into playing the role of an MI, a job that for many I suspect is quite clinical. I will miss her. Good luck Khandi and thanks for an outstanding performance!

CSI Miami will never be the same without Khandi Alexander. Why in the world did they let her go? I don’t care whom they dig up to replace her, I will never feel the same way about that show.

Khandi truly will be missed. She’s one of the main reasons I watched the show. The cast members all complimented one another. I was shocked and saddened when I watched the episode. This will definitely hurt the ratings.. CSI: Miami has lost their No. 1 fan!!!! ME!!!!!!!

Khandi’s gone!!!?!?!?! That’s a shame! She was definitely a joy to watch, and as stated before by other bloggers, she’s irreplaceable. Her character was not developed as it should have been , but she “delivered” every time. I will miss you, Khandi. I just don’t think she could ever be replaced!

Just received another comment about Khandi Alexander no longer being a part of CSI Miami, but now I find out that Gary Dourdan will not be on CSI anymore - what in the Sam Hill are these producers doing???? These two actors played a large role in giving the shows depth. Are the producers forgetting that it is actors like ALEXANDER AND DOURDAN

I will miss Khandi a great deal. She added that edge and compassion to a difficult job. What’s up with CSI losing two top actors?
Gary and Khandi will leave a deep hole.
Any thought to returning them?

The CSI series are becoming a joke……So as a fan how can I in good faith continue to watch shows that doesnt have any African American characters. You have to have characters that people can relate to.

I think Gary is being let go because of the drug charges he is facing (felony). I liked his character on the show and I also feel if he has issues with drugs that it frowns on the public including the show, as for Khandi, she alway’s had a simple part and that was to keep all the actors fluid, and show how qa person who deals with the dead for a living,(no pun intended) could be so compassionate on the show and about the victims, she is a gorgeous woman and I feel bad that she is let go as I liked her character and felt she could have given more to the show had the producers written her character in more. I will watch for her in future roles, who knows at the end Horatio say’s the door will alway’s be open just in case somethng happens in the future.

We will really miss Alex. My choice for her replacement would be the actress from Crossing Jordan. The one who played Jorden Cavenau

I was shocked when I saw the episode and that Khandi was departing. Really shocked. She is a very compassionate, beautiful, and professional woman. Watching her gave me a sense that she is also educated. I will miss her great style, (hair, clothes, and Chanel sunglasses!)

Sorry as everyone to see Khandi go. I usually watch all the CSI series and need a reason to cut back. CSI Miami always has incredible scenery, but Horatio is a little hard to take and the plots often seem to be the most over the top of the 3 shows. Losing Khandi Alexander may just be the final straw for me.

I am so sad that Alex Wood left she was the only reason that I watched CSI Miami and the only reason I would ever watch it again is if they had Warrick brown become the new ME. You will be missed Khandi

The NEW chick doesn’t even compre to Khandi!!! I hope the directors doesn’t think that just because she’s another African American it’ll be okay…because it’s not!!! I am very disappointed!!

Why don’t you people admit you made a huge mistake by letting Khandi go - this replacement we see now does not come anywhere close to Khandi and how she handled this role. It is better to have no one. Khandi actually made the viewer believe she grieved with every victim she attended….GET HER BACK!!!!

I’ve enjoyed watching CSI Miami for a while and I’m going to have a hard time watching the show and NOT seeing Khandi Alexander! I REALLY BELIEVE that “someone”…Producers (maybe)…
have made a very BIG mistake by letting Ms. Alexander go! I (and all my Friends) wish that she could have been persuaded to stay with the show. It WON’T BE THE SAME WITHOUT HER!

It is very obvious that the producers, or whatever do not give a hoot about what the audience wants - they figure that “we will get over it” and accept the newbie who does not come anywhere near Khandi’s performance on CSI Miami.
