Episode 4.15 - DOA for a Day - Discussion Points

by Lynn on April 4th, 2008

The first episode since the writers’ strike, DOA for a Day, aired this week and CSI: NY is as great as ever! This one was a complicated journey to find a serial killer who would stop at nothing to try to throw the authorities off in their investigation. She even went so far as to kidnap someone and have them surgically altered to look like her so she could fake her own death.

Then, she went on to kill the surgeon and implant a camera where his eye had been so she could watch the people who found the crime scene. Sick!

So here are some discussion points for you about this episode:

  • Do you enjoy the snippets of Second Life that keep getting inserted in the episodes?
  • Was this a new and fresh approach to an old plot idea…that of switching identities with someone else?
  • What are your thoughts about Danny missing Lindsey’s birthday? Should she forgive him easily, or was she right to continue to be hard on him?
  • How easily do you think it would be in real life to reverse engineer a surgical makeover of a body, like in this episode?
  • What did you think of her explanation of how it feels to kill someone?

I’m so glad we’ve finally got new episodes again of all the CSI shows.

I have to commend CSI: NY for attempting this cross-platform thing. I know they originally planned to have a Second Life concert to go with the second episode, but with the strike, that fell through. The internet is a common forum for entertainment now, and it’s great that the PTB are recognizing and attempting to use that. I think CSI: NY did a good job of using the online community in a way that made sense in the first episode. The second episode didn’t use it as well, but it did tie the two together.

I wasn’t impressed with the resolution on this episode. It just seems like it would have been easier for the assassin to get surgery instead of kidnapping someone and changing them to look like you.

I HATED the little speech the assassin gave at the end. It seems trite and stupid, which ruined the character for me. I would have preferred her saying that she killed people because she was good at it or not answer at all.

I think Lindsay had every right to be annoyed with Danny, especially with that incredibly lame excuse. She gave him crap about it in the first scene, but it didn’t affect them for the rest of the episode.

I found the plot to far out there for me but I guess it’s hard to keep it original and fresh. I would rather have different than stale

Why is everyone so into Second Life? I can barely keep up with all of my TV shows, much less play that virtual reality game.

As for CSI, I’m still way behind on some of the episodes. I’m a huge fan of this site that i found to watch the old episodes
