CSI:Vegas Episode 8.04 Recap: “The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp”
This episode was a pretty good one. Interesting plotlines:
- Young man killed and hung in a tree for having some female equipment
- Body found on construction site of Catherine’s dad’s new casino in town.
The first murder was from a teenager who had lived in a town all his life and started to have some hormone challenges that caused his body to grow some breasts like a woman.
He was helping a scientist, Paul Cyden, do some biological studies on fish in the reservoir. The young man worked in a water treatment plant. You may have recognized Paul Cyden, played by John Billingsley. He was recently one of the main cast members in the short-lived series “The Nine” also on CBS. One of his cast mates on that show ended up being the “Miniature Killer”.
Trivia Note: An interesting bit of trivia I found while reading the TV.com site. If you notice John’s character name on this episode is Paul Cyden, or P.Cyden, which sounds like Poseidon who was the Greek god of the sea. I love trivia like that!
The second murder focused around the skeletal remains found in the construction site at the location where Catherine’s dad’s new casino was being built. Sara believes it was from a native American burial ground after they find a bracelet that looks like it was authentic Native American.
The victim was actually a snoop-reporter trying to get a story back in the Las Vegas early days. He was murdered by Catherine’s dad’s “muscle” guy. The interesting part about this plotline was the interest that Greg Sanders showed about the history of Vegas. He was being a total Vegas mob history geek.
Both plotlines aside, the real story of this episode came from Gil Grissom’s proposal to Sara while he’s playing with his bee colony. We saw a clip from that in the previews leading up to this episode and we see in the episode that Sara agrees.
We know she’s leaving the show, she agreed to the marriage; so what’s going to happen? I personally think they’re going to kill her off some other way now. I’m sure that’s not going to be the popular idea, but what kind of twist would it be for her to make it through the desert debacle and then get killed by a swarm of African bees?

They are not killing her off. She is just driving down the strip away from LA to have some time off b/c what happens in epsiode 7.
