Time’s Up - CSI:NY Episode Recap

by Jason on October 20th, 2007

Wednesday’s CSI:NY was an interesting one. A little “Back to the Future” fun and shenanigans.

That’s not it though, it was a silver-screen double-feature this evening because we also recreated a little scene from “When Harry Met Sally”. Except this girl seemed to do it surprising herself at the same time while in the middle of drinking some coffee and eating a giant pickle.

Our time traveler predicts the death of a college kid, then dies himself on the precinct floor in front of Sheldon Hawkes and Mac Taylor. Further investigation during autopsy reveals a computer chip he implanted himself as well as a needle embedded into the the core of his brain.

During the autopsy some mercury (that came from where exactly?) was attracted to a point on the vic’s hand where the chip was embedded. No scar or wound found on that hand though for a little continuity error.

Here’s where I’ve got to vent a little bit more technology oddness. First, we’ve got a gadget in the autopsy lab that grabs a little 3-D holographic image of a guy’s brain.

Pretty cool eh? Don’t know if it really exists somewhere in the world, but doubt it exists in any police station autopsy labs. As normal though, I can forgive the stretched-reality to enjoy the show. Until they do something like this…

Do you see the size of those alligator clips Mr. A. J. Buckley has on that chip that was embedded in the guy’s hand? Do you really think those clip teeth aren’t creating or breaking at least a handful of circuits on that chip? I think what happened was that the real clips were too small and the producers said, “I can’t even tell what you’re doing, let’s get bigger clips!”.

Okay, back into the show.

At precisely 9:45am we have another death on our hands. The one that was predicted by our first victim.

Our body count is now up to three people. The time traveler, the girl in the deli and now the college guy assistant.

The college co-ed ended up having smiley faces all over her body and her asthma inhaler had been tampered with by someone. She’d been at a party where a little frat game turned bad and she didn’t like to be the one being played. The guy followed her to the deli to apologize.

The pieces all fall together to show that there was a third person in the room at the time of the murder. A second assistant had been taking advantage of the time-traveler to win some gambling on games and races. When he wanted to keep going and didn’t agree the 3rd assistant killed him. He then sent the 2nd assistant to keep traveling to help him get out from under the bookies that were harassing him.

The college co-ed was killed by one of her sorority sisters who selected her to participate in the frat game. They wanted to loosen her up since she was a virgin, so she switched her asthma inhaler with the clinical trial sexual enhancement drug that she was a part of at the health clinic. She didn’t mean to kill her, but she did.

The episode ends with what I thought would be another call from Mac’s stalker. It ended up being a letter from Peyton in London. She has found a new job there and knows that Mac can’t join her because his work and life is in New York City. She ends the relationship. Mac leaves the office in a hurry, my guess is to catch a flight to London. Stella comes in and sees the letter as well and reads it.

I was wrong again. Mac instead went to a blues club to play a little bass guitar with Will Dailey who I blogged about earlier. His music is really good, check him out on his website if you haven’t already.

ZZZzzzzzz I’m sorry, I thought this was a horribly boring episode, particularly the ridiculous B case.

^ Just to be clear, the ZZZs were for the episode, not your recap.

I loved this episode. Disgusting as it was…with that brain scene. As usual, it was fantastic. A bit hard to understand if you didn’t fully pay attention.

I loved the Mac-Stella scenes. Particularly when Stella recieves the parachute and at the end when she goes to the gig to see him play. I felt sorry for Mac but I’m glad Peyton is out of the scene for now. Maybe some Smac in the future? I hope so.
