"You Only Die Once" CSI:NY Episode Recap by Jason
Detective Flack and a girl are getting to know each other in her apartment and they discover a guy dressed in black getting ready to jump out the window. He’s pretty equipped as he jumps out of the window and gets into a super-nice, black sports car. Perhaps more interesting than the break-in though is what this car do. It fixed a dent immediately, then sprayed a flammable liquid onto the street that it ignited as Flack was trying to chase them. The team begins collecting evidence immediately.
As they’re collecting evidence Flack gets a phone call. He then meets Mac and Dr. Hawkes
The on the street where the guy that broke-in is now dead on the sidewalk with a chunk of his scalp separated from the rest of his hairdo. Under his outfit he’s wearing a tuxedo.
The first lead comes from the piece of a butterfly wing on the victim’s tuxedo. They trace it to a special gala that occurred. The event planner said he’d never seen him, but his assistant said he was there and that the planner even had to call the cops on him.
NYPD is chasing the the black car again and Det. Flack and Stella are investigating another break-in. Stella finds out that the security system at the apartment used “smart water” that is sprayed on the burglar as he exits. It glows and can’t be washed off and usually lasts for 7 days.
Mac shares with Flack about the calls he’s been receiving. The phone calls started in London and happened at two different hotels. He received them at his apartment in NYC and at the office. He also received a call while he was on the street when they found the scalped guy on the sidewalk. This time he left a message. Mac did some serious (maybe impossible) investigation into the background sounds. He determined he was calling from an airplane, behind the engines and he wants Flack to find out what flight it was. Someone is playing a very real game and Mac is the target.
The computers in the lab get hacked and something from inside the lab starts downloading information from their system. They do an emergency power down of all electronic devices in the room and everything goes black. After a couple of seconds the light tables start flickering and Dr. Hawkes figures it out that the tuxedo jacket was the source. The jacket was made of “nano-wires” and a computer chip (that looked like a simple SD card) that would identify a network and mimic it, then connect to it and start downloading all the data. The robberies were “wireless” heists of information and data.
Det. Flack also found out that the flight was from two weeks ago from London. The same one that Mac Taylor was on coming back from his vacation.
Although an “spy” on his own parties. He’s not the one responsible for being the super secret agent spy that’s robbing all the data.
Det. Flack and Stella attend a party to try and find the suspect that’s glowing with the “smart water”. Stella takes press photos of everyone in tuxes with a special camera. After one photo she finds that the assistant “Maude” was glowing as she walked behind someone Stella took a photo of at that moment. Maude runs from them and begins a chase in the super car. It does have lasers (that cut the guy’s scalp off). They were ready for it though in the street and she ran the awesome car into a blockade. Don’t worry folks, it didn’t really crash. Some bad CGI made us think that way though.
The car ended up being sabotaged. The airbag was replaced and was the device that was used to crush the initial victim. The “Q” wannabe is responsible. The team was led to him because of the cayenne pepper they found on the airbag is also used as a home-remedy for people to stop biting their nails, which the tech guy at the car place was doing.
During one of the earlier robberies of the police chief, an e-mail was obtained by the nano-spy-jacket. It was evidence of a clerk accusing the chief of sexual harassment. He’s obviously upset about and tells Mac to take care of the case as privately as possible. Somehow it gets out and the chief threatens that he’s going to hold Mac responsible because it had to be someone in the lab that leaked it to the press. Mac checks with Sheldon Hawkes and they think it might somehow be the jacket again. After the chief threatens him, Mac gets a call from the mysterious caller again who asks Mac if he’s having a bad day.
Mac goes back to his office to find his suitcase waiting for him, with someone else’s lock on it. He calls the airport company asking about it and they tell him that they never located his luggage. Mac tries “333″ as the lock combination and when it opens it up he pulls out a blood-stained t-shirt.

I loved this episode. It was just fun to watch. The car was awesome! I liked Danny and Lindsay arguing about whether the Batmobile or the Mach 5 was cooler (of course they forgot the coolest car: KITT) and all the references to James Bond.

That’s interesting that you mention KITT. That was the first thing out of my wife’s mouth when they were having that discussion too!

My question is what kind of car was the black sports car? I couldn’t get a decent look to find out what brand it is. If anyone could tell me, that would be great.

Does anyone know the name of the song that was being played in the background during the scene at the butterfly party.
