CSI:Miami 09/24/2007 - "Dangerous Son" PART 2
Thanks for coming back for the 2nd half. Let’s jump right back into the show. We’re just coming back from a commercial break below.
——— Commercial Break —————–
The Private Investigator that Horatio had track down information on the son visits the foster home. Guy appears to be a real loser and has the kids stuff in a 55-gallon barrel. The PI finds some information and shares it with Horatio. Horatio identifies the boy’s mom when the PI can’t read the writing and we also find out that the boy’s father is identified as John Walden. The PI questions Caine on what’s going on him and this boy; he responds that’s what he’s trying to figure out.
Following up on another crime scene we find a lady is abducted from her house. She’s married to a guard at the prison and it ends up being Kyle that’s kidnapped her. He makes a comment about the guard knowing where the money is. They find the woman and Kyle has ripped off his ankle bracelet. Horatio points out that the amount of $126,000 wasn’t random and gives us the idea that Kyle may be working under someone else’s plan and agenda.
—————- Commercial Break ——————-
The guard looks really familiar. I just can’t place where I’ve seen him before. Horatio uncovers the plot of getting money and drugs out of the prison. The food delivery guy got out of juvie early and is going after the money.
Eric follows up with the delivery guy, who obviously is denying everything. Here’s the standard lab sequence with rocking, instrumental background music. Eric’s doing the CSI magic on the shell casing that was found in the boat and trying to match it to the suspect. He finds a print…..which ends up being the print of Ryan Wolfe. Natalia brings Ryan in as they question the suspect, who denies knowing him. The suspect, Rick, has Ryan load the gun so his own fingerprints wouldn’t be on the casing. [Note: Wearing gloves seems to be much easier]. The suspect confronted the PO, ended up shooting him and throwing him out the window. He then forces Kyle to help him with the cover-up.
We’re now back in the lab and Horatio is asking the lab tech to compare the DNA found on the ankle bracelet with his own DNA and it’s a match. John Walden, was an alias that Horatio worked under when he was on a task force. He and Julia got pregnant and had his son, Kyle, which he just now found out about. Kyle is found running from the Coast Guard and Horatio goes after him as well. Horatio calls the Coast Guard commander and tells him to stand down on the chase, which he does. Kyle seems upset. Next we see Horatio and Kyle talking on the pier.
Kyle asks Horatio why he even cares and Horatio says, “Because it’s my job to care son.” Kyle then responds that he’s not his son and walks away and is then taken away by the police.
So there you go folks! The premiere episode of CSI:Miami’s new season. What did you think?

Yawn!
By the way, the PI was Yelina Salas, Horatio’s fake-dead-then-real-dead brother’s wife. She was a detective for the first few seasons.

I knew that I just couldn’t think of her name quick enough to add it and was trying to keep blogging as quickly as possible. Thank you for giving me that information though. What do you think about that plotline? I like the “Horatio’s fake-dead-then-real-dead brother’s wife” part.

The son plotline? bleh… Horatio already has the whole saving-kids schtik going, giving him a surprise son just seems like overkill…then again, this is CSI: Miami, which isn’t exactly known for its subtlety.

Don’t know the guards name but I think I know why he may have looked familiar to you. He is currently playing the part of one of Ben Wade’s (Russell Crowe) gang members in 3:10 to Yuma. In another Crowe vehicle — Mystery, Alaska, he played one of the local hockey players.
Good episode overall, but I’m not sure about the development of the son plot-line simply because the writers have introduced other “Horatio angst” background stories only to have them fizzle out (Madison and the NY subpoena) or get killed (Marisol). I’ve become somewhat cynical regarding TPTB’s good intentions.

I have a question for anyone who knows… At the very beginning of the episode there is some spanish guitar music playing. Does anyone know the name of the band? My google skills aren’t up to the task apparently. thanks! I liked your synposis, but it’s not my favorite season opener for the show.

Who is the boy? By any chance is he actually David Caruso’s son in real life? Sometimes they go that route for looks and PR value.

Jason,
Why no running commentary on NY’s premiere? It was much better than Miami’s premiere.

Just finished blogging it. Was a bit delayed tonight, but just wrapped up publishing my 2-part review on CSI:NY’s premiere tonight. I’m sure Lynn will post a little later with some great screen captures, so be sure and come back for her recap as well.
