CBS Puts Its Eye on Jerry Bruckheimer for New Series

September 19, 2007 by Jason

bruckheimer-jerry-award The executive producer of the shows we’re fanatics about is now working on a new series for CBS based on the British science/investigation TV show called “Eleventh Hour”. Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Bros. have come to an agreement on moving forward with production of a new show for CBS.

Sources close to the deal say it is easily the most lucrative pact of the development season, with CBS greenlighting a $4 million pilot and agreeing to produce 13 episodes at a pay-or-play licensing fee of $1.75 mil per.

The X-Files-esque Eleventh Hour last year aired as a four-part miniseries in the U.K., with Patrick Stewart starring as a professor called in by the government to investigate mysterious cases involving matters of science, from cloning to global warming.

Patrick Stewart seems like a great fit for this type of role. I wonder if they’ll be able to grab him for the new series permanently.

I’m not sure why I never thought of it before, but X-Files does have a lot of similarities with the CSI investigation plot line activity. I never got into X-Files that much as a kid, but looking back, I’d bet I’d like them now.
