New Poll - Should Sara Die?
We had a poll awhile back asking which character was going to be killed of next season and the winner was Jorja Fox’s Sara Sidle.
With more news coming out about what we may be able to expect in the next season, I’m curious….
Should Sara’s character be killed off?
What do you think?
Should Jorja Fox's character Sara Sidle be killed off this season?

Yes.
First of all, it would make the serial killer storyline more powerful if there was a lasting effect for the team. Second, they need a cast shake-up. I loved when Grissom left because it allowed different interactions, having Sara leave would offer the same opportunity.

I won’t be sad if she dies so you got my point. And I agree with what Holly said..

Killing Sara off would be a very bad idea. Granted, the team would be affected by Sars’s death, but so would CSI’s ratings: can someone say, down, down, down? Let’s keep hope and Sara Sidle alive!

I honestly don’t think it would have a dramatic effect on the ratings. So long as it is well done and the cases are good, the vast majority of people will keep watching. I don’t think that there are a significant number of people so devoted to Jorja Fox/Sara Sidle that they would actually stop watching if the character were killed off.

You said it right Holly….The show is great and there are other characters that are worth watching.

No. I say that because the only thing holding CSI together is the fact that they are a team, they learned once already that trying to break the team up really was a disaster, they tried to get rid of Jorja Fox one before but just couldn’t hack it - CSI would not be able to carry on without Sara, and I know it’s almost at the end of its run, but I’m hoping it ends with a finale worth remembering, not trailing off to oblivion and then eventually being cut.
On the other hand - I think we all get a little sick of TPTBs empty threats! Don’t get me wrong I don’t want a main character to be killed off in the slightest - but every year pretty much they threaten us with something, reveal the fact that a main character’s contract is coming to an end, there have been several times where we thought Grissom, Warrick and Nick would all be leaving - and yet all of these threats were empty. CSI has gotten a little too predictable, and if Sara lives there really will be no mystery left in the show, because everyone will just know how TPTB’s mind works!

Also - I am a member of YTDAW, which is a fansite with almost 15,000 members now, and the majority of these members are threatening to boycott CSI come the fall of Sara, I realise 15,000 won’t have such a big effect on the ratings, but looking at petitions and such, I am aware of the high number of people (I myself not being one of them) who would not be able to bring themselves to watch CSI, if Sara wasn’t on it.
When Jorja was sacked a few years ago with George Eads I remember the huge riot that was caused, fans do not take kindly to drastic changes, and I think TPTB are aware that they may regret it, if they do take that leap.
Besides, we all know she’s not gonna die anyway!

I agree that having at least one storyline that really sees some definite “conclusion” on CSI would be nice, but at the same time, I think Sara is just too integral. People love to hate Sara or just plain love her, and a character like that is always vital to a show - if you just don’t care, you aren’t going to watch.
I think, honestly, that they should kick off Warrick. Gary Dourdan really isn’t being given much to work with, and he likely has projects on the side. But when Warrick shows up, you just feel the pointlessness of the character.
Maybe Warrick and Sofia can both be killed in some kind of investigation gone wrong. It would free up the cast bloat of two very unncessary characters.
But Sara? Nah.
Besides, I don’t think anyone wants a permanently mopey Grissom. Season 3 was bad enough.

They can’t kill Warrick; he’s the only non-white character on the show. (You just can’t kill off your token minority character. If they had more non-white characters, they might be able to get away with it, but since they insist on only having one minority per CSI show, they can’t kill that person.) They definitely need to give him better story lines though.

Julia ARE YOU CRAZY???????????? They can’t kill Warrick not now, not ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Warrick and Cath are the best in the show…..PERIOD

No, they were going to kill Warrick off season 4 but it just never happened, IMHO, if you gotta kill a character off, let it be Warrick God please let it be Warrick - because I hate this whole YoBling situation - the guy is married people get over the fantasy, its gonna be Cath and Nick, so start getting used to it!
Anyway, I got my reasons to not like Warrick, but even so I don’t think, nor would I particularly agree with the idea of TPTB killing Warrick off, or any character for that matter, for the point I aforementioned - CSI is all about the team, the team is what makes the show so damn strong, and their failed attempt to break that up showed that!
Besides, like you say, Warrick is the only coloured character, apart from Mia who what, lasted a week? They don’t give him storylines because they can get so much more out of the other characters - they could never pluck up the courage to lose him though.

CSI has been the number one scripted series in the Neilsen ratings for four years running. I think it would be unwise to mess with the formula that works

They haven’t killed off someone major on the show in forever, if not ever. Personally, I don’t like Sara at all, or the relationship between her and Grissom. I don’t think kicking her off will affect anything but a few thousand peoples hearts. The show is too good. Besides, there are still eight other great cast members. Plus Hodges!(Off subject!) The show will go on.

Personally not a die-hard GSR shipper as my true calling is hillbilly love (cath/nick), but I do think that the show’s backstories must progress through time, and Grissom and Sara getting together did exactly that, we’ve acknowledged their attraction to each other growing through the seasons, which isn’t something that an anti-shipper can deny, and now the two characters are put out of their agony as a relationship is at last formed!
I don’t want Sara to die because I like Sara and think she’s good for the show (male to female ratio - don’t EVEN get me started!!!!) but having spent seven years building up a relationship on the show to ruin that would riun the only real consistency that CSI has, I’m not gonna go as far as to say that the GSR is what has held CSI together, but I think it is definitely a supporting factor - to take that away abruptly (and I’m being careful what I say here because I actually know what’s gonna happen), but to take that away abruptly will require a lot of bridges to be built!

I agree that the CSI: is strong because of their committment to each other, but both of the other shows have killed off a major character (of course, Aiden was off the opening credits when she was killed, I think, it was a while back), and CSI: has been on the longest, so they have had more time to get into character, and after seven years, they are in the public eye and heart. But after seven years, more characters have been added on and the spots for new people have been filled up. And entering their eighth season is pretty big, and who knows how long its got, so maybe it is just natural selection or something. (Now did that make any sense?) Sara’s been great. She’s had some good and bad times, she’s seen love come, go, and come again, and she has made friendships with her team on camera and in the veiwers, and killing her off would probably bring more attention to the show not because people don’t like her but because ratings always go up with a creative death of a main “good guy”, and the miniature killings have turned some heads. Not to say that if Sara had a death that it is only advertising. For all we know it could be Jorja or the writers, but we still won’t officially know what’s what until the season premire. Just like the writers to leave a cliffhanger at the end of the season finale, making us wait and wonder at night what is going to happen to her, if she will come out of it alive or die at the hospital. What I’m wondering is how Natalie (was that her name?) got Sara in that situation. Did she hold her at gun point? Did she have a knife? A tazer would be interesting. Guess they will show us that when they look at the survelliance tapes. I have a feeling that the premire will be mainly about finding Sara, but you and most of the world probably already knew that.

They just can’t kille anyone from the team, that would be to much, so often we have thought that Grisom, Warrick or Nick was to leave the show in one way or another.. I was so afraid that Greg wouldnt come back, after he was beaten up, and i dont like the thought that Sara dies… And if anyone on the team are going to have a relationsship, i really hopes its Warrick and Cath, he just have to get a divorce, because they are a match, a perfect match… when they started to make the show, the idea was that Cath and Nick should have a relationsship, but they did cut out the clip, so pleaaaaas dont let them get to gether now… its just to late… And there have been no sience on that they where working up feelings for each other, so why now???

Although a bit harsher than I would have stated it, I agree with you. I’ll bet it would be a very interesting plotline for Grissom to not run to Catherine, but to Lady Heather instead.

i agree with holly, nima, ashley, mk, and jess. ya. GRILLOW 4EVA!!! honestly, guys, sara is not the only character. seriously, it would shake up csi but in a good way. it would be awesome!!! and sara looks something like a hooker, the way she wears her makeup. and her buck teeth*shivers*…

OK, firstly - Grillows… never gonna happen, get used to it.
Secondly, everyone has at least one character on the show that they don’t like, mine is Warrick, I think he brings nothing to the show and is a loose end, and I also hate YoBling because let’s face it - the guy is married, and they REALLY shouldn’t be encouraging any more divorce on the show - it’s unhealthy! so it’s gotta be Cath and Nick!
Fact is, however, that as much as I may wish at times Warrick wasn’t around, I would want him to leave, DEFINITELY wouldn’t want him to be killed off - every fan knows that CSIs strength is the team, when they take that away from us, that’s when the show starts to fall apart!
IF Sara doesn’t return to the show (because its already fact that she has in fact left) then CSI will fall apart - no question in the matter, no doubt whatsoever - CSI will be cancelled within the year. If they bring Sara back, then no matter how much you hate the character, you will still have the privelage of enjoying the show!
For the record… Sara isn’t being killed off, she is being forced to leave due to a case she works on to do with domestic violence, and she will be returning, because WE won’t rest until she does, and we’ve sent our message loud and clear for all LA to see!

Are you talking about the Hello Goodnight eppi
cos i thought Catherine was on the domestic violence case and Sara And Nick got to deal with Hannah an Marlon again I hope they do it was their case last time and I love Sara an Nick working together.
Michelle
Oct 12, 2007 at 1:05 pm
Hey, yes that is what I’m talking about - well it’s all very ambiguous atm and I shouldn’t be saying too much atm anyway.
But there has been a debate going on, because we think Sara WILL be on the domestic violence case, and fans are furious because they think she SHOULD be on the Hannah and Marlon case, because like you said it was her case to start off with.
Personally I’d like to see Cath and Sara work the domestic violence case together… either way, we have heard that Sara works A domestic violence case, which is a factor leading to her leaving the show…
Bearing in mind however… now that she’s moved to swing, surely she wouldn’t be working with any members of Grave anyway!
When I know more I will let you know!
