Gary Sinise Plays Memorial Day Concert
Gary first took part in the concert last Memorial Day and was asked to co-host this year. This however, is not the first time he’s supported the troops. He has regularly visited the troops in Irag and Afghanistan with the USO. It was in fact with these tours that the Lt. Dan Band was formed.
Sinise has been supporting the troops for several years. He began doing tours overseas in 2003 and has been to both Iraq and Afghanistan. After visiting the troops several times, he told the folks at the USO that "I play music with some guys. Why don’t you let me take a band?" Since then, he has been entertaining U.S. troops around with world with the Lt. Dan Band, named after his famous character from Forrest Gump.
I’ve always enjoyed Gary Sinise as an actor and these types of efforts by him for the greater good only make him that much more a good target for my admiration and respect. Not from today’s Memorial Day concert, but the video clip below shows Gary talking about his efforts supporting the troops.
