Episode Recap “A Daze of Wine and Roaches” - CSI:NY
It appears the writers weren’t too far away from reality on part of the plot line of this story. It seems that people really are wearing cockroaches as jewelry and PETA has an issue with it as well, all of which was a sub-plot line for this episode.
One good thing about having surgery, is it gives you a little bit more of an explainable opportunity to catch up watching some television shows. For this week, it’s the opportunity to sit down and watch the latest CSI:NY episode, “A Daze of Wine of Roaches”.
At a French Revolution themed fundraiser at the UN, specifically at the French consulate, Mac, Stella and Hawkes find themselves hurdling diplomatic road blocks investigating two murders. Meanwhile, Danny and Lindsay reunite on a “blinged” out cockroach that lead to murder.

This wasn’t one of my favorite episodes out of the New York crew. For me it never seemed to get going. There were only two things that were really interesting in my opinion. The expected shock of someone going to actually be killed by a guillotine during a re-enactment and the fact that there was a Madagascar hissing cockroach that looked like he just starred in a new show called “Pimp My Bug”.
The interesting twist to the initial plot of guillotine was that the little girl seemed to be behind everything, which led to more than one person’s death. The clincher line during the closing minutes was that it’s not illegal to be a sociopath, or something like that.
It also surprised me that for an episode about a bug, it wasn’t also starring our favorite entomologist, the one-and-only, Gil Grissom. However, they eventually tagged the murder of the restaurant owner to someone who was a little too in love with bugs. They entered this guy’s apartment and it looked like the scene from the Indiana Jones movie where they’re crawling through the tunnels. He killed the guy because he was going to kill the cockroach.

you got that one right there. it would have been maybe better if grissom was around. just please don’t let horatio caine enter the picture and mess everything up more!

But Grissom would have been up in arms about the abuse to the bug.
Remember the scene when he asked the exterminator if he had any guilt about his job of killing bugs?
That would have put a whole different twist on the show.
I have to say that if people are really wearing bugs, the world is in even worse shape than we thought….
