Students Play CSI and Solve Murder Case

by Jason on March 22nd, 2007

Education has come a long way since I was roaming the halls of my local elementary and high school. Students at a school in the United Kingdom got to experience a little bit of what it was like to solve a murder case using the skills and techniques that are regularly seen on TV.

Warblington School in Havant played host to the fun event, which included a crime scene, fingerprint tests at a laboratory and a mock trial in the school hall.

Organised by the Education Business Partnership, the day was intended to improve students’ skills in problem-solving, risk-taking and team- working and for them to learn more about the criminal justice system.

A crime scene with a mannequin of acting headteacher Owen Davies was made up in the school’s drama studio.

And to think I thought it was cool to go on a nature hike out behind the school for biology class. Imagine learning about DNA through this type of hands-on, real-world application of science. Nice!
