Who Wants to Play CSI:

by Jason on March 12th, 2007

SpikeTV Murder Show

“I’m not a C.S.I., but I play one on TV”.

How would you like to say that to all of your friends over the next few months? SpikeTV may be giving you just that chance with a current promotion/contest of theirs.

MURDER
Real People, Solving Real Crimes
Do YOU have what it takes to solve a real murder?
Real detectives already cracked these cases, but can YOU?

The show is brought to you by Bunim-Murray Productions. You may have heard of them before, they’re the folks behind MTV’s The Real World and Road Rules.

“Murder” is an innovative reality-style series premiering on Spike TV. The series profiles some of the most difficult and complex homicide cases ever to be solved by our nation’s finest detectives. While many popular crime shows make solving homicides look easy, “Murder” reveals just how difficult cracking a real murder case can be.

In “Murder” ordinary people will put their heads together for the extremely difficult task of trying to solve these complicated crimes.   They will visit exact replicas of the actual crime scenes. They will gather evidence and speculate motives. They will have access to every pertinent detail that the real detectives had when solving the actual cases.   While the names and locations are changed to protect the victims and their families, every other aspect of these homicides is exactly as it was in the actual cases.  Down to the last detail, these cases are real.

If you’re interested in applying for the show you can get more information and download their application on their website. Don’t forget to let us know how the process works if you start progressing through the first round of cuts.

I have wanted to pursue a career as a CSI Agent since I was 7 years old and I am now 22. My husband is in the military and I start my online classes for forensics in july 2007. I hope to recieve my masters following that. I watch CSI and I get chills because I know that is what I am made for, the real thing I mean. Let me know how I can join this contest asap. When I was little I used to solve crimes with my cousin out of people that lived in our complex, We would gather evidence, take notes, and pictures. I would love the chance to do the real thing I cant wait until i am doing what I am suppose to be doing. My no# is (479)497-9974 . This show has been an inspiration to myself and others as well.
    Thank you, Ashley

    Hey Guys!
great site, found it thru google! I applied for the Murder TV Series the beginning of March. On my way home from work(about 1am) on the the 19th, I got a notification on my cell for new VM messages. I played it and found that a rep from Bunim/Murray productions called and wanted me to call her back in regards to may app!!
I can’t even begin to describe how ecstatic I was!(Lets just say it was good that I just pulled into my driveway when I listened to the message)
I thought for sure no one was interested, as I was checking my email several times a day for some type of reply from them.

So I call the # she left me, right back, and got a voice mailbox. The only problem was it had another person’s name and said it was for the casting for Real World. I left a message anyway.

Well when I got up later that morning, I decided to check the call log to see WHEN exactly she called, since I’ve been having issues with my cell. Turns out that the woman had left the message WAY back on March 8TH!!! I don’t think I’ve ever been so disappointed in my life. I left another message explaining why I had not returned the call sooner, but I’m pretty sure the person who’s now using that # doesn’t really care, since it’s my problem with the ph and has probably del both messages when she hears that I’m calling for the Murder Series…
Oh well… I can at least watch the show from home and dream about what might have been.
~P.S.- I’ll be throwing my cell ph off a bridge tonight…

Pete! That’s some bad luck on your part. Did the person in the original message leave her name? I’d be looking up her name and trying to get another number for her. I’d be tossing water on that burning bridge of yours and getting myself back into that game. Let us know what you find out.

    Hey Jason,
Yeah, she left only her first name and phone #. I tried already looking up an employee directory for bunim/murray, but all I could find were the head execs for the company.
I did find an email addy via google for applying for the tv series. They want just a few lines and a pic. I was thinkng of dropping an email there and see if I can explain the situation and see if someone calls backk agin. I want to try whatever I can, but on the other hand, I dont want to annoy the people there to the pont where they totally ignore me.

    Ok, last update.
I was able to get transferred to her VM and was able to leave a message. At Least I feel good that she got my msg. Hope she decides to give me a second chance.(unlikely as that may be:-( )

I don’t know Pete. I think your chances are good. You’ve already shown them how you can pursue a slim thread of a chance and make the best of it. Maybe they did that whole thing intentionally to see if you’d figure out the way to track the person down.

I did an audition in Nashville 2 weeks ago on thursday and I have not heard anything back yet.I sent an e mail and a pic and they called me for an audition .I went and took the IQ test and did the video taping. They even sent an e mail saying it was extremely important to fax a signed copy of the release form to get me further along in the process.I sent that Monday.I think it would be really exciting to do the show.I hate to hear what happened to you.I am going to give them untill Monday and then I am going to give up.Hope you get a 2nd chance.

Well it has been 2 weeks since my audition and they said I would hear something in about 2 weeks if I did not hear anything with in that time frame it meant that I probably would not…but it was still fun just doing the audition.Anyhoo..I do hope you get a call back that would be awesome.

Thanks guys for all your support. Renee, best of luck to you, I was “pulling” for you! Even if they don’t give you a call back, sounds like a great experience and I’m sure there will be season 2. I’m sure my chance is gone, but I can always hope for next season as well…

[…] Remember a while back when Jason told us about the new reality TV show, MURDER, where real everyday people get to pretend to be CSIs and detectives to solve cases? Well, the season premiere aired last night. TVGasm has published their review of it and I really enjoyed it too! I think I’d even love to take “stab” at being on it myself! (Sorry for the bad pun…) […]
