CSI:NY Recap - Sleight Out of Hand
This was a fabulous episode of CSI! First of all, I love the show Mindfreak, starring the amazing Criss Angel. His illusions are flawless and he’s quite the showman. In fact, he was voted Magician of the Year for the past two years.
I was a bit surprised that he was on CSI: NY instead of CSI: Vegas, though, since he films his own show in Las Vegas. But then, I remembered that he grew up on Long Island and his Mom still lives there. Sounds like a great way to have the trip to see Mom be deductible. ;-)
The show began with Criss’ character, Luke doing the illusion of being cut in half on the two free-swinging platforms. He’s done that one on Mindfreak and it really is spectacular. The catch was that supposedly while he was performing the act, one of his assistants was actually sawed in half somewhere else. The team was brought in to investigate and it was a gruesome scene.
Then, the next night when Luke performed an act where he is lighted on fire for four hours, another of his assistants was doused with gasoline and lit on fire. By now, the team was beginning to suspect Luke of doing the ultimate illusion and being in two places at once. They cancelled his third evening’s performance and managed to show up just in time to save his adoptive mother from being drowned upside down, Houdini-style.
Criss Angel was absolutely the perfect person to play Luke. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they wrote the part with him in mind. His smoldering intensity was absolutely believable and even those of us who have seen him perform on Mindfreak still can’t figure out how he does it.
While all of this was happening, Lindsay had to testify against the man that she witnessed murder her three high school friends. Her testimony was very emotional and Danny couldn’t stay away. He had to show up to be supportive of her. And the really cool thing was that they were holding hands waiting for the verdict (guilty, thank goodness!) and then almost kissed afterwards.
Those of us who have been watching regularly know that Danny has had a crush on Lindsay ever since she joined the team. It will be fun to see how this relationship plays out.
Folks, we have chemistry among the characters on the show! And not just forensic chemistry! ;-)
I loved this episode. What did you think? Did you enjoy Criss Angel on the show? Did you like the mixture of science and magic? And do you think things will continue to develop between Lindsay and Danny?

Do you have any pictures of Criss from the show by any chance? I loved him being evil, he could probably pull that off if he ever gets sick of the mindfreak bit, I could really see him as being an actor or something…

I think you’re right. Being an illusionist is a sort of acting, I guess. ;-)
I think I can get some for you. Please check back tomorrow to see if I was successful.
Thanks for asking! :-)

[…] Lynn was right in her recap earlier, this was a great episode and it couldn’t have been played any better than with Criss Angel playing the part of Luke Blade. […]

I don’t even watch CSI….but this night I did because Criss was on the episode. He is intriguing, mysterious, and very charismatic. What more could you ask for in a sexy actor.
