“Monster In the Box” Episode Recap
What a great episode last night. We finally find that Grissom decides to open his mail and sees the new scale miniature of the murder scene. The determine the murder hasn’t happened yet and they quickly begin work to search out the expected victim’s location and home.
The victim turns out to be a retired psycho-therapist who seemed a little loopy herself with George and Gary’s characters enter her apartment.
With the help of the rest of the police force they stage a sting operation to try and find the killer with an undercover cop playing the role of the proposed victim. When the therapists’s brother arrives at her apartment, they originally expect him to be the killer but it turns out they’re wrong. After nothing seems to happen for a few more hours, they decide to cancel the sting operation. When the detective goes in to wake-up the stand-in officer they find her dead!
AMAZING! The killer still pulled off the act under absolute police video surveillance. As Grissom reviews the tape from the sting operation he notices a puff of fire in the fireplace and they investigate. It turns out the killer had staged the murder probably a month in advance and the device dumped powdered charcoal on the fire making a cloud of carbon monoxide gas, which killed the cop and the cat.
As the team continues to investigate they find that the original killer did have a son, and they pursue him. He seems a little strange, but are they leading us down a dead-end road? We also find out that the family had numerous foster kids living with them and that may be who the originally identified killer may have been protecting by confessing to the crimes.
What a twister!
My question though is how in the world did the killer get the lady’s cat to die in the same spot?

This latest episode definitely kept me glued to the set. The spot the cat died in was probably its favorite nap spot which is how the miniature killer thought it would die there.

Here’s my prediction. Grissom IS the miniature murderer.
