CSI:Miami - “Backstabbers” Episode Recap

by Jason on December 12th, 2006

As Terrorist maven Sonya Barak sits with her defense attorney, Horatio takes the stand to testify against her. He is going to make sure she goes down for the kidnapping of Peter Kinkella’s family and the attempted explosives attack on the Turkey Point nuclear power plant. Sonya’s lawyer, Russell Tanninger, has other plans however, and exploits Ms. Barak’s cooperation with the authorities to have her released on a cool million dollars bail. Peter Kinkella is furious with the outcome and demands revenge, but he will have to wait. Sonya Barak will be dealt with in time, and for now, she is free until her trial date begins. Horatio watches as Sonya gets into Tanninger’s car. A Corvette drives slowly by them when a shot pierces the silence, and Russell Tanninger, falls to the ground dead. The ‘vette peels out of the parking lot, followed closely by Sonya piloting Tanninger’s car. Horatio doesn’t have a clean shot at the ‘vette, but has Sonya in his sights; however, he lets her go. There’s one question plaguing him–who would want to kill Sonya’s defense attorney? Maybe the car’s plates will provide some answers. Read more.blockquote>

This episode wasn’t too bad, I just can’t get over this mental block I have of comparing the show to the other two. I’ve been watching CSI:Miami more in syndication as well trying to get through this little blockage of mine. In doing that, along with this episode, I’ve figured out one of the main reasons I don’t like this series. Horatio Crane, played by David Caruso, runs around like he’s a full-fledge officer or detective. He’s NOT! Is he? Isn’t he just a CSI like Grissom?

Now, Gary Sinise as Detective Mac Taylor is more believable, is it just because his title has “Detective” in it? I don’t think so. Why can’t I get over my dislike of CSI:Miami? I’m such a huge fan of the other shows. Does anyone have any tips for me?
